Cubeless asks-- should obama do wreath laying at arlington on memorial day?

That`s like asking if Obama should wipe his ass.....you know ass wiping takes valuable time and with that saved time Obama might be able to fix this mess that GWB got us into....rofl

Yes, he should do it, otherwise it's another right-wing talking point. It's that simple, and I don't understand why Obama doesn't get that.

IDK.

On one hand, 99% of the country spends Memorial Day not memorializing, and instead goin on vacation and/or getting drunk. So at least its honest to American norms and not shameless political pandering.

OTOH, some shameless pandering is still important, and as the CIC and given the current domestic mess, and seems a stupid time to be asserting your independence.

Think it would have been smarter to suck it up for the year and go do the song and dance no one will be watching.

What's the problem? Obama represents... Represents powerful interests and the MIC just fine. You know he started two new wars and didn't even bother with congress.

i just scratch my head at the state of political management these days, especially when they're in a fight for seats in a couple months... i'm ok with his supporters saying this is a non-issue, but it seems like this is an easy, slow pitch to people like sean and rush...

You were around, according to your profile, when Bush wasn't at Arlington on Memorial Day. So please do us a favor point us to your post, from back then, where you questioned it. While you're at it, please show us where "people like sean and rush" had a problem with it, as well.

There's a fair number of things Obama has done and/or failed to do that have bothered me. This, however, isn't one of them.

ummm, bush was still popular and etc, etc, and i think the op mentions that I FUCKING GET IT THAT OTHER PRESIDENTS DIDN'T DO IT!!! i already said that i don't really give a shit about it personally, my question was reagrding the political handling of events... i'm curious why people decide to do things the way they do them, since it seems to me that they are often in conflict with their goals (at least as i interpret their goals)...

And i didn't say that the pundits have pounced on it yet, just that it seems to me to be the kind of thing that they sure would pick up if there weren't enough other things they want to blabber about...

and most of my anandtech life was spent on hot deals... i just wandered over here a while back when i started hanging around the house instead of being on the road all the time...

I was pretty pissed at first but now I'm kind of glad. He doesn't deserve to be there and would be a disgrace to the people that gave their life defending America. He would just be spewing words he doesn't believe in by trying to honor them. He has no honor.

"Honor" isn't a political club, and treating it like one is a good way to demonstrate that you don't have any.

You're a hack, don't try to hide it behind some smokescreen about caring about honor.
