Plus..

It seems like the majority of the people here are teens w/ limited income. So of course their going to tell you to go with the Xbox.

I remember when I thought $700 was a lot of money. Ohh.. $700 big bucks.

If $700 isnt alot to you what is?

I'm sorry bro but today $700 really isn't a lot of money.

:D

It is for something as frivolous as a gaming computer.
But I guess it all depends on what your values are. I suppose for an audiophile, $3000 isn't a lot of money for an amp.

It's all relative.

That's true. Say if you like to game, but you would like to work with the UT2K3 engine. Say you would like to put together a mod. You can't do that on a console, but to you anyway... spending say $2500 isn't a big deal because you know that you'll need the addedpower to work on your project.

As you stated it's all relative.

And I'm sorry, but I think it is. I guess the fact that I'm married and own my own home changes that opinion a bit. I can walk into home depot and far better things to dump $700 on than a gaming computer that is worth half it's value in about 3 months.

As I stated:

Well you keep forgetting that you can do a lot more with the computer besides playing games. And if your machine is capable of playing games, you can do other things such as programming, composing music or a movie, CAD work, putting together a picture album, burning cd's, etc..

Gaming doesn't have to be the only thing you need to do when thinking about purchasing a "gaming computer."

Xbox. I do believe that in many ways PCs are a better gaming platform, but then you can't go and pay $200 for a PC and hook it up to your big tv can you? If money is no object I'd probably go with the PC, but bang for buck an Xbox is almost undeniably a superior purchase. Costs less than 1/3 the price and gives you definitely more than 1/3 the enjoyment.

Another vote for Xbox. :)

A benefit that I didn't see listed already is multiplayer -- as in friends, who actually want to come to your house or sit in the same room with you. Four people using four controllers is waaaaaaaaay better than four people sharing a keyboard. ;)

I am deciding between PS2 and Xbox.
But i thought you can get a pretty good Dell PC for $500 includes monitor.
