I am in a bit of a quandry.....

Now that my new asus K8N-DL dual opteron board and 6800GT Pci-express vid card is here I will have some extra parts left over....

I have extra HDD, AGP 6800GT vid card with NV5, Iwill dual opteron retail mobo, and extra case I can make work...as well as DVD-rom drive

I am wondering if I should hang onto the parts and get some cheaper 265 opterons and make another quad box for folding....

I coudl sell the agp vid card and get a cheap AGP card (not 3d gamer) and money towards a power supply....damn I just sold the Antec 550 to markFW900...i could have used that...

get 1gb of ram at least and I should be operational....

OR

Just sell the board and vid card and get a Xbox 360....

The extra case I was saving for my Conroe box...

I always plan to sell my extra parts, but the temptation to build a new machine instead is just too much :disgust: so if it was me, I'd build another from the spare parts. Although I am actualy gonna sell my Dothan system to by the rest of the parts for my core duo system when the motherboars show up in stock.

Problem is I may just sel this board and get another Asus K8N-DL...c ores of 265's wont garner me much more then 550pts a day....I am hoping to get 800+ out of my current box once I have opc'd the 270's a bit...

If I can sell this Iwill board to someone who wants a real high end server board with PCI-X slot and (2) pci 66mhz slots and 8 dim slots...I may be able to do it for almost a straight across with no extra money...With the Asus mobo I can make the 265's much higher...

Though the Xbox 360 looks good...I hat e gaming on the PC so it would work nice with my 55" plasma....

I guess the question is: What is more important? Folding or Xbox 360?

Personally I'd sell the 6800GT and get an energy efficient card like 7300GS. Swap the PSU with at least 80% efficiency ratings. Build that rig and fold. In fact, I wouldn't even use a case. I'd just build a test bench with the tidy wires neatly tucked away.

To me Xbox 360 isn't tempting anymore, but that's just me. Once you play with mouse the keyboard, you don't go back to game consoles. Much more fun with headshots. LOL Plus, if you have a proper HTPC setup like mine, you can game with your Plasma as well.

My PC will be in my office and the plasma is in the family room...and that is the way I like it...I have a 27" widescreen LCD for my office...

The Iwill mobo I have will only take AGP....

The 6800GT pci-express I have is so I can soft-quadro it and use it in my CAD apps...

Duvie, is the Iwill a S940? if so, the 940 optys are pretty cheap. i would drope the extra cash and get another system. sell the 6800GT, used the money to get the CPUS and maybe a 6600GT for ocassional gaming (if thats your thing).

edit: also keep in mind that a new 360 is on the way in (i think) October

It is but...I would only look at dual core optys though...so basically 265s...260s would be nice but the 55w versions are as much as the 270s....so about 600 bucks of investment....

I would swap the board for a hopefully no loss or extra cost...

Sell the 6800GT w/ NV5 for 170ish...get a power supply and cheap pci-express card...

Then I would have to get some ram at about 100-150 bucks....

so 700 bucks and I could have 4 more cores next to my main quad box...

Th eproblem is I wil have to run my widescreen LCD with a VGA plug instead of my DVI cable...

I ave not seen a reasonably priced KVM switch with DVI plugs
