Should I worry or not? Please advise.

Hi,

I've recently built a new computer, specs as follows:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16GHz
Gigabyte 965P-DS3 Motherboard
2 x 250GB Western Digital SATA2 16MB Cache HDDs
Corsair 2x1GB XMS2 6400 DDR Memory
Xpertvision GForce 7100GS 256MC Graphics card
Windows XP SP1 install -> upgraded to SP2 after

I originally had some problems when installing windows. When I booted from the windows CD it seemed to confuse the two hard drives with each other and kept swapping drive letters around. When I tried to format c: on hd1, it went ahead and formatted d: on hd2. After that I managed to format c: and install windows to c: However it then wouldn't let me format the d: drive on hd2 from windows. When I booted from the CD and formatted hd2, it couldn't find an operating system. It was almost like it thought it installed windows to d: but actually the files were placed on c: Very strange.

Anyway, I deleted all partitions, reset the bios and disconnected hd2. I then installed windows to c: and then reconnecting the second hard drive and everything seemed ok.

However I am now getting some weird problems I've never encountered before such as:

- If set to boot from CD in bios but no CD in drive just hangs saying "Boot from CD". I have to manually tell it not to boot from CD in the bios.

- Occasionally doesn't shutdown and hangs on a black screen

- Occasionally mouse doesn't work so can't log in to windows

- Wouldn't recognise my firewire PCI card, eventually (after swapping back and forth to differnet pci slots) worked

- Kept freezing up when trying to install a bit of software, eventually (after many attempts and reboots) worked

- Kept freezing when installing synthesiser driver, eventually (after many attempts and reboots) worked

On the whole my system is working incredibly well but the few problems worry me as I've never encountered anything like them before. Is this likely to be a software or hardware issue and should I be worried about it?

Thanks,

Rik
