I want to get an P4 1.6a and P4S333 until I hear the P4S533 is coming. From what I read, seems like it is given that the 1.6a will OC to 2.1g. If it can't go beyond that, is SiS 645 the limiting factor?

I didn't say it can't go over 2.13? My impression is that to OC P4 to 2.13, one only has to up the FSB to 133 and is done. Anything higher may take more work.

no man the FSB on the P4S533 is up to 166MHZ with the SIS645DX chip. you will never know how high that thing can go up to! just dont eat your CPU next to your frenchfries.

Not try to fry anything. Shouldn't it be easier for the 645dx to go 150fsb then the 645? I mean it is "only" 12% over spec vs. 50% over spec for the 645.

dont forget it supports PC2700 memory ddr333, so you have mad bandwith to play with. so the precentage will be alot higher. do you when they will be in the market? cuz i am waiting myself for one of those.

The 645 supports DDR333. The 645DX will "only" add 533 (133 QP) FSB support.
I have no idea when it will be out but it is listed on ASUS' website.

Personally I doubt it's much, if any different than P4S333 other than it "officially" supports a FSB of 133. My BIOS with a 1.6A in it gives me three options for CPU speed: 1600 MHz (100 FSB), 2133 MHz (133 FSB), or manual. I think when they built the chipset they knew that intel would be going to a 133 FSB, so they just went ahead and put support for it in, and now that it is coming out officially they are releasing a "new" chipset. That's just my opinion though, I could be wrong, but why design a new chipset when your current one can do the same thing? I think it's just marketing.

Even the p4s333 has basic northwood support now with the bios 1005 version...check out asus's own website....

The dx chipset may correct some of the latency timing issues of the memory control, but my gut instinct says not much has changed...through in udma133 and that is about the big diff of the newer mobo...
