I'm thinking of getting a TB 1GHz AXIA core with A7v133 with a total of 500 (canadian dollars, including tax)... Should i wait for Athlon4? Will it be expensive? I won't spend more than 150-160US (230-240CAN) for cpu... Will Athlon fit my range?? i'm looking for around 1GHz... not much beyond that. BTW, does ne1 know that does the pencil trick will still works on athlon4?

Desktop Palomino will not show up till ~August. Do you really want to wait that long?

The chip might be available for testing and evaluation in the next month or two but won't be available at higher clock speeds till the August timeframe. Additionally it will take some time for the chips to become widely and cheaply available. So if you run out and get one during the first few weeks of release expect to either not get a chip or pay a premium price.

i suppposed you can use Palomino on the A7V133

if this is the case, just get a AXIA first and then upgrade by August

Exactly what I would recommend... plus the differences in real world performance at the same clock speed aren't incredible. 5% improvement in Q3 for example.

If you really want to be set for future versions of the chip get a mobo that supports DDR.

A majority of the DDR motheboards aren't mature enough. That is the reason I am still using a KT133a solution.

Good point.

And for the record I ordered an Asus A7 based on the KT133a chipset. I agree, there don't appear to be any totally kick ass DDR boards out there *yet*.

i've been an intel boy for a while now...

but im thinking my next processer upgrade will be the Athlon4.. *i hate the "4" in the name*

how much will it be when it comes out... and how much will a stable mobo be (asus brand)...

like i said, i've been into intel for a while.. so i dont know much about AMD mother boards and processers...

Get a 1gig axia now and then if it doesn't overclock well sell it when the a4 comes out and get a a4.

Well the 1.33 Gig chip today can be found for under $200 for the retail box processor with factory heatsink, box, warranty.

I woul hazard a guess that the 1.5 gig Athlon 4 will hit this same price around late Sept to early October.

I agree with nippy, I wouldn't wait that long, just get a good chip now and then sell it and upgrade when the time comes.

Asus A7V133 can be had for $120 from newegg.com
