You know.. the infamous IBM Hard drives.
The new 60gxp model must be better than 75gxp.. right?
I don't know bout the price though.. is it going to be alot more expensive?
How long do I need to wait for 60gxp to be widely available internationaly?

If you decide to play the waiting game, you will never buy any new HW. You won't go wrong with the 75GXP series. I do admit, the 60GXP does have a higher transfer rate and will be even more quiet than the 75GXP, but how much will it cost?

the 60GXP has a higher areal density so it ups the STR but transfer rate doesn't really mean much in most average usage seek time is much more important and everything I've heard indicates that the actuator will be the same in the 60 and 75 GXPs and both are 7200rpm so seek times should be near identical.

I'd just get a 75gxp.

I was waiting for the 60gxp to come out cuz I want a 60gb one, but if takes too much time I'll just have to settle for a 75gxp. To answer your question, it'll be a little faster but probably not that much. As for price, it won't cost more than the 75gxp, price usually comes down when newer drives come out (bigger density=less $$$$)

Im using a 75 gig IBM75GXP and it is awsome There are faster and quiter drives out there but for performance and reliability I feel nothing will touch this drive. If you want to spend alot more money for basically the same thing wait for the 60GXP.
