Should I use onboard video for a HTPC?

Does anyone think that I can just use onboard video if I am installing 2 happauge tv tuners? This is going to be used as a TIVO and basically nothing more. It will be hooked to my tv.

I think he will be using the s-video output for his tv and 2 turners. If that's the setup Master is thinking, it should work fine.

I think that 'heartsurgeon''s point is that many onboard graphics chips do not have S-Video out (only VGA). If you have an S-Video/RCA out, you should be fine with the onboard graphics.

Was actually going with the wintv pvr 150.

Doesn't the tv tuner cards come with svideo out on them? I thought they did.

The PVR 350 is the only one I know of, most others I've seen depend upon your video card for the video out and just have inputs only.

The 350 is a pain from what I have read. You will probably want a cheap svideo/DVI out AGP card. I use the 9600 with passive cooling and use the DX9 for menus.

Alright. Sounds like I need to add an AGP graphics card. That's fine. A 9600 wouldn't break my budget but I am using it for the outputs on it more than the processing power of it? Right?

I'll be starting my purchasing next week.

Just realized that because I am going with Windows MCE that I have to get a new graphics card. There lists of compatible graphics cards are slim pickings for cheap stuff. x700 and above, ati 9800, or geforce fx cards.

I also wanted to stay ATI cause I always thought their colors were richer but all their new cards are pci x and I am not getting a pci mother board.
