So is the native resolution like, 1920x1080, or 1920x1200? Probably one of those.

non-CRT monitors look best at their native resolution, so I probably wouldn't mess with that, but either the Nvidia 760, or Radeon 7950 will be great choices for gaming at your resolution

Vista is fine for the most part. However, since you have the budget and are getting a new SSD, now's a great time to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8.
