Would I see any performance gain going from my setup to 2x 6950's?

It's hard to find anything to compare my setup to new ones.

I'm running a 5970 o/c + 5850 trifire setup

a 5970 + 5850 all at 1920x1080 with a Phenom 2? even at 4.0 your cpu is going to limit you in most cases with anything faster than that setup you already have.

Is there any game right now that YOU play that gives you problems on that nice pc of yours?

Yeah thanks guys.

After some research (I hadn't read any 69xx reviews, just found out yesterday wife is prego) I have determined to keep what I have

I like intel, but I've Built 5 amd systems in a row and haven't had issue.

You could potentially see benefits if you are running up against the 1GB of framebuffer. All of that GPU power you have can most definitely make use of higher settings, which in turn can be limited or hindered by 1GB of framebuffer.

Going to two 6950s could provide a smoother experience and might allow you to turn some settings up, like AA, in a few instances.

However if you don't notice any performance problems, like perhaps strange stuttering or low fps, then you most likely don't need to upgrade. But if you happen to turn up a few settings and your performance drops like a rock, then that could be a sign of the 1GB getting in your way.

Most games should be fine, but Crysis and Metro can make use of extra VRAM as they like to hog it.

I'm not seeing many sites test with higher levels of AA than 8xMSAA, so there's a chance if you use Supersampling the extra VRAM would be welcomed.

I think with such a high end system, you are playing at 2560 or beyond (eyefinity). at those rez and AA/AF settings, I'd say your cpu won't be a bottleneck. save your cash and get a better gpu when the 28nm are out next year.
