Get crossfire if you want more performance which you do.
If you don't play Oblivion and don't mind compromising IQ then get 7950GX2 or Radeon X1950XTX.
Else go crossfire or stick with what you have.
Why do you even want to upgrade with such a fast gpu?

didn't the x1900xtx suck ?anyway OP really depends on you. do you play at resolutions that the x1900xtx can't handle ( but the 7950gx2 can) ? do you have cash to spare ? if so then go for it (or go cross-fire). other wise.........

Actually, I believe he thought it was crap. :)

I'm hoping for a lot from G80/R600, I'll be disappointed if they don't do the 2x performance of the previous gen thing
Then something tells me you will be disappointed.

Why wouldnt they manage 2x performance? Every next gen has done it before, if they dont its because of the dx10 thing

Uh, they've only managed to do 2x performance at higher resolutions and AA settings. The R600/G80 will likely double X1900XT/7950 speeds while running at 2056x1536 with 4xAA and 8x AF. At the more commons 1280x1024 and 1680x1050, its performance will be closer to 10 to 25% faster, and thats thinking positively. :p

My personal reasons for skipping the R600/G80 generation is the rumored power draw. Its out of control and I'm not adding a second power supply to my system. Their refresh and successors to those cards should have lower power draw.

Maybe so, but the problem is by the time the r600 and g80 come out, there will be newer games that run like crap on a single r600/g80 at 2056x1536, so then you'll be right back at 1600x1200. Because it's a whole new architecture, it's hard to predict if we'll see a 2x improvement, but even a 1.5x improvement would be nice.

25% faster isn't that great... I don't quite get why you guys dont' expect it. Again, the XTX is between slightly below twice as fast, and slightly above twice as fast as my GTX was at 1680 + full details ... so why wouldn't we expect such out of this coming architecture?
