Should I upgrade my Q6600 @ 3.3ghz to an E8400?

I game, and browse the web, and overclock a little... that's about it...

I could trade even up for an E8400... not sure if it's worth the trouble... I'm guessing i could hit 4ghz with the wolfdale, and drop my SuperPI 1mb from 15s, to 12-13s...

I don't think your board will like a 45nm CPU. (And no, I don't think it's worth the hassle)

By the time games need a single 4ghz core, they will also take advantage of quad cores, which will make your Q6600 more powerful than a lowly E8400 with only 2 cores. ;)

But if you are environmentally minded, E8400 does save my energy bills :]

do the trade. go for 4.5. it'll be fun! besides, if you blow the chip you'll be able to get a new g0 quad for $200 or less.
