Hi everyone! Long time fan of this site excited about Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 coming out soon.

I am wondering if I should upgrade my current gpu or if I should wait a year for nvidia to come out with their new chips in this price range?

I am not a modder and have not OC'ed or done anything like that before.

My current specs:

Dell xps 8300:

Core i5-2300
6gb ram
Radeon 6850
1tb Hard drive
Win 7 Home 64
Stock 460W power supply
1080p monitor

Previous to my 6850 (bought from friend for $110 a couple months ago) I always went nvidia. Is it worth it to upgrade my 6850 to a 7850, 560, or 560ti (any other cards I should look at)? I don't have any experience changing a power supply and would prefer not have to do that.

Thanks for the advice.

A 7850 is 1.5-2 times as fast once overclocked compared to a stock 6850. But wi a core i3 you won't get the full potential, but it will still be a big upgrade

Why don't you wait? D3 comes out tomorrow - I'm sure you won't need anything better to play that game Maxed @ 1080P . GW2, not sure what kind of Horse power this will need? Better to wait though. 6850 is still a capable card, even at 1080p.

Go Wolfpack!

If he overclocks the 6850 to 2.5 GHZ and the i3 to 5 GHZ he won't need the upgrade...

What I'm saying is, read the OP before making stupid suggestions, he said he doesn't overclock.

Thanks for the suggestions! I won a $250 scratch off lottery ticket and have been looking at video cards. I don't have any OC experience, so am a little worried to burn out my primary system. Thanks for the advice so far!

If you want to burn the money, then just buy a 7850 and call it a day. your current PSU is fine for a 7850 - GTX 560 or 560TI would be to close for comfort. Hope this helps.

EDIT: If you do buy a 7850, I will buy that 6850 off of you. I live in Raleigh,NC.

I can't see the for sale section due to low post count or some other restriction.
Please email me the description of your 7850 along with model number, price, max OC thus far and operating temps at idle and full OC if you have the stats.

Should buy my Asus 7850 for sale in the FS section ;)
