I think they're retaliating against me for reporting the company to the DOH after not listening to my concerns over secondhand smoke.

Need more information to the story.

You may feel like big man on campus for taking such action, and your lucky to be in a position where you don't "need" the job. But in the future you should really....really consider your actions.

See, when you have rent/mortgage, electric, gas, cable, internet, a cell phone, groceries, a car payment, car insurance and want some fun money to spend.....all the little pains in the ass that an adult has to deal with, you might want to reconsider being such a tough guy.

Companies have long memories and if you piss them off they WILL find a way to get rid of you.

They WILL make it legit and you will not be able to collect unemployment. (provided there is any left)

Although it is "unethical" for your HR guy to give out too much information to a potential employer...trust me you piss them off enough they will torpedo a future job for you if they have a chance.

Does anything I stated seem "fair"?...probably not.

But life is not fair and when you have bills to pay and need to put food on the table if forces you to re-evaluate your priorities and taking your second hand smoke issues to a state or local agency, getting your bosses in trouble and forcing them to pay fines, all at the risk of the company finding out who ratted them out and taking retaliatory action against you...well ,that may not seem such a good idea then as it does now when you have none of the worries of adulthood.

but hey, you have no responsibilities so good for you

cry baby.

So you're a corporate whistleblower?

I told him I would not bust my hump if I wasn't payed hump-busting wages. Anyways there is only 3 people in my department and one is on vacation. They need me in early in the AM tomorrow but I'm not scheduled. I don't think I'm going to go in. Fuck em.

I think in your own special way, you've already told them to shove it.

I really wish I had at some point in my life walked out on a job. I end up too damn dedicated.

I had a guy quit by putting a sticky note on his monitor that said "I quit on Friday." - we saw it Monday AM.

my boss has said something similar, but I found out that lots of people were getting "that talk," mostly to avoid handing out raises..

It's cool, you don't need a job. Obama is going to be inaugurated on the 20th. Then it'll just be rainbows, butterflies and unicorns everywhere.

fixed

Now wait a minute! I need to know for sure if it's unicorns or ponys, they have different harnesses and I want to have the right one. We'll have all this on the 21st at the latest, right? :D

In this economy, maybe...mabye not.

For many years, I'd quit a job at the drop of a hat...then be on the phone to the union hall and have another one lined up before I got home.

More than once, I'd go to work in the morning...get pissed off at some stupid thing the boss said or did...and just grab my lunchbox and thermos and walk.
"Fuck you...call the hall."

The construction industry isn't so busy nowadays...I might have to eat a bit more shit than I care for...until I could rustle up something else.

Gotta love Robot Chicken (youtube)

Apocalpyse ponies are very strong willed... i don't think they're the type of ponies you want a harness on.

So you're the best fry cook in your town? Hey, don't be ashamed. The world needs good fry cooks.

Perknose beat you to it. :p

You're so funny. I detail automobiles for shits and giggles. Before I worked stock/overnight stock at a regional grocer and during that time I did UPS holiday jumper stuff. I occasionally assist my friend's dad in HVAC installations. There is a reason I am going to school.

In other words you mean you wash cars.

Well, we were promised a magical gay pink socialist unicorn, but all we are going to get is a lousy unity pony... :p

You are lucky to have a job right now. I'd show up for work at least until you have something else lined up.
