Should I take Mandarin?

My friend wants me to take a night class with him. Should I learn Mandarin?

Edit: can't get the damn poll to show up.
Also, it's just a conversational Mandarin class, not hard-core for-credit Mandarin.

I think u'd definately benefit by learning mandarin.. i'm currently taking mandarin classes and i must say its pretty hard to learn it compared to the other languages that i have / am learning....

Unless you pratice it everyday and that includes writing characters after the semster, you will forget everything you learn that semester. So its to you how much time you want to invest into it.

BTW, if you're expecting hot girls in there, think again. They are usually in the Japanese or Spanish language classes.

Is Bry a girl, sorry then. My 1st semester class had almost 50% drop the first day cause of that reason. I was wondering why I was one of the few guys in there and later I on, I met some of the former students. They all told me they spoke Chinese well, they were hoping to meet some cute girls.

The class is conversational Mandarin. My friend travels & works all over the world (works in filmmaking), so he already knows some Mandarin. For me it would mostly just be something interesting to do, and a way to spend time with a friend while he's temporarily working nearby in Portland.

I'm chinese and speak mandarin. It's a beautiful language...unlike Cantonese which is a harsh and brutal haha.
