should I take an online class?

i dont want to go to college this year so im gonna take a few online classes. never took one before

have any of you ever took one? is it harder or easier?

i just signed up for graphics arts class and sent the teacher an email .....

Took 2 this summer. Cake, much easier than same class in person. Just don't expect to learn too much.

Depends what class it is. If it's something required that you don't like or care about, I'd take it online. But I believe you'd get a much better understanding by attending class each time.

During my year at a community college, I took two online courses. The first was Rhet & Comp, since I hate English and writing essays. All I had to do was login once or twice a week to get some assignments and write up essays. Much better than wasting my time in class having the teacher read me the assignment. Even better was Macroeconomics. All that was required all semester was approx 15-18 Chapter Quizzes that were timed at 30 minutes, but you got to use the book! There was no deadlines, as long as you finished all of the quizzes by the end of the semester. So you could do the whole class in a day if you felt like it. Well, maybe a couple days.

Pretty much what's been said. Won't learn much probably, but will be really easy. The class I took online was all monkeyed up, I could get the answers to the quizes before finishing them... :shocked:

It all depends on you. If you have the self discipline to make it happen, do it. I, personally, don't.

you can get it cheaper with your student discount.

You really couldn't be "late for class".

Participation was based on a forum system like Anandtech. You needed X original posts a week and Y responses to other people's posts a week. I also had to have a private forum with the professor.

Uh, had tests and quizzes which were pretty much the same as in class except you typed them out and some were timed.

Definately pretty cake. I took Business Ethics and a Biology course. I agree wih the other poster, only take in classes that you don't really give a sh*t about.

Christ, my father took a few of them and got A's. AND HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO ALWAYS TYPED IN ALL CAPS. ;P

Bah. My online class experience sucked. The HW was easy enough but the fuggin' questioned were so specific at I sat there with the book looking up the answers and still got C's. I have no clue how anyone managed to do well.

Can be good or bad. Hard to tell unless you get some firsthand feedback from others who took the course. Note that just the prof's overall reputation is no good for evaluating online classes, as they may be great in actual lecture classes but beyond horrible in online courses.
