Should I stop taking hydrocodone??

I try to avoid legal drugs. They usually only mask symptoms instead of fixing them, and the side effects are never fun.

I appreciate the mask. It lets me work the whole day. If I didn't take it today, there's no way I could've done my job today. Yesterday, I had to take a half day because of the pain.

The side effects are a bit bothersome.

Unfortunately a list such as that doesn't tell the general layman the prevalence of those side effects. Sure, hydrocodone-APAP may decrease white blood cell counts, but perhaps that was in a clinical trial on rats receiving 10x the normal dose for all you know.

This[ is a better list of possible side effects.

Take it as prescribed and as needed.

It comes down to how it affects you. You can read warnings on pain killers all day long but, being aware of how a particular one affect you is what's important. Everyone is affected differently.

Vicodin? Just don't get addicted.

The side effects probably wont' be an issue.

Fuck! Vicodin?! I thought it was Lortab. Is that the same thing?

I felt really good at work today. Like I could travel for miles. Worked a little overtime, too.

Any semi-intelligent doctor that prescribes hydrocodone for use beyond a day or two is probably going to suggest a laxative too.

Yeah, usually I have a "BOWEL MOVEMENT" 2-3 times a day. Today...just a bit in the morning. No harm done though, that shit's a pain in the ass.

If you don't need it for pain, don't take it. Also, don't confuse the withdrawal symptoms for pain that requires addictive pain meds. I had crazy muscle stiffness after eating percocets (oxycodone) like they were candy for two days, and lots of injectable opioids the day before that. I think it was withdrawal symptoms.

It sounds like you're starting to get good at rationalizing the need for them, good luck with this.

It doesn't necessarily make you constipated far as dry hard poop, that is fierce & difficult to evacuate, as much as just having relaxed your muscles too much to go poop.

I went crazy when I was on hydrocodone. Finished bottles in 2 days. Or sooner. Would generally pop 1 or 2 every 2 hours or less.

I do remember the constipation part, but you can't force your muscles to do something else when they are that far relaxed.
I do remember going poop a few times, although muscles were well relaxed.

Fuck that. I couldn't hardly move without my whole body--back, abdomen, and nuts--aching. I took off early to go see my doctor, who prescribed me hydrocodone. The tylenol-codeine he prescribed to me on friday wasn't cutting it because it gave me a stomach ache. Is there something that cuts the pain but is less addictive?

Why are you in such pain? There could be plenty of better options, but we're light on details.

I don't believe you can get withdrawal from only being on them for a couple of days. My guess would be you were straining the muscle just didn't notice it.

As for the OP, you need to use them as prescribed. They should say "as needed" on them, so if you don't need them, don't take them. It's not rocket science

I guess no one else noticed.... you shit 2-3 times a day? Are you kidding? you should be happy that it "constipates" you, lol. what a hassle that would be.

That's not normal for everybody?

Reason for pain.

Oh, well so long as there's nothing weird going on, like an infection, your pain is understandable. Just use the pills as directed (I'm guessing something like "X pills every Y hours, as needed" ). You're not gonna get hooked on them if you aren't gobbling them down and asking for refills. The side effects are really no big deal either. Relax and take care of your nuts. See your doc if you think anything could be wrong.

If you're taking them for the pain due to that Vasectomy, and the pills are working, then just continue. It won't last forever. My personal experience with side effects from Hydrocodone is constipation, lots of it.

I was on Opiates (Morphine, Dilauded, Fentynal) for a month while in the hospital last year. Don't let yourself get addicted, withdrawal was horrible. Cramps, sweats, vomiting, severe muscle pain, all for three or four straight days and then another week of nausea.
