Question Should I stick with the 2060?

Hello,

I have ordered my pc parts and my gpu is a msi 2060 gaming z. This is my build https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/XNcydX
I want to play 1080 high now and for a couple of years to come. I’m unsure now if I should stick to the 2060 or spend the extra and get the 2070 gaming z or similar. Will the 2060 be enough?
As there seems to be all these questions going around on the internet it’s made me unsure!
(Sorry if i have made any mistakes first time posting here).

As the reviews show, the 2060 is plenty for 1080 or 1440 gaming. There's even a new Tech Report article posted in the same area you posted this that covers your question.

Buy the latest and greatest card when you upgrade to a 4k monitor.

I picked up an EVGA RTX 2060 xc gaming (single fan). Have it paired with an old Sandy bridge 2700k and 1920x1200 monitor. after years with GTX780, its nice to again be able to set settings to ultra on every game I own. No regrets with the purchase.

I wouldn't pay the extra for the MSI or any of the "overclocked" models.

At 350 (USD) the RTX 2060 is a great buy and the single fan on the EVGA is quiet and provides enough cooling for the card to hit 1980mhz. Performance between the reference card and the fancier AIB models isn't all that different. You are really ending up having to decide between different sound profiles and warranty differences.

2060 has the most reasonable perf/price of the RTX card and is so close to the 2070, it makes the 2070 look more dubious. I would stick with the 2060.

2060 is the best value by a good margin on an RTX card. 6GB isn't too much of an issue yet, particularly at 1080p. It's very likely that when 9th gen console ports start dropping next fall that 'Ultra/4k' textures will be more than 6GB (potentially even 8GB to be fair) will be able to manage.

I will note that there is a GTX 980 ACX 2.0 / Classified in our excellent FS/FT section for $150 shipped. Those premium EVGA models are pretty sweet, and 980AIB @ 1080p is still more than fine for new games. I have a Battlefield buddy that has a launch 980, and he plays at 1080p ultra on a 144hz (non Gsync) 24" monitor and absolutely loves it still.

JayzTwoCents has an excellent review of that model 980, and it's a steal at that price.

Win/win I think, though if you're only going to use it for 2 years and probably pick up a hugely better 7nm GPU, I personally would just save the money and go bigger with a less disappointing GPU generation. The RTX family has been pretty dreadful in terms of moving things forward, but it marks such a large change in features that I believe it's an aberration. RTX 2nd gen should be a dramatic improvement.

I will suggest you to stick with 2060 as it is powerful enough to give a good gaming experience on 1080p at high setting
