should i sell my rig or just upgrade it?

i have socket 754 AMD 3200+, k8vse, 80HD, 512 ram, 64mb ti4200,etc..

with dual core amds out should i sell my current rig to save up for this and get PCI express, better vid card obviously! and other improvements?

or should i just upgrade the parts and keep the mobo+cpu?

EDIT: i basically do some video editing but it would be leaning towards gaming (i currently have a 17" LCD but plan on getting 20" or higher)

What kind of requirements do you need? A moderate upgrade would be to get another 512mb of RAM and a better video card (6800 or so).

Not a bad system. My cpu is even older than yours and I'm not even thinking about upgrading right now. Buy a nice quality stick of 512mb RAM or more. Pair that with a video card. At least a 6600GT or 9800 pro since those are pretty close. Even though the 6600gt is better. Best card under 200 dollars is the 6800.

There's been some good deals on x800 XL AGP's lately, I would just pick one of those and 2 gig sticks of ram up.

Without an idea of your needs or usage patterns no one can give you a descent answer.

In one or two years that rig will be worth next to nothing. So if you are actually looking for some return sell now before M2 comes.

add another 512mb of ram or so, and a 6800gt or x800xl. That should be plenty for a couple of years. Wait to jump on dual core until it's more mainstream -> more affordable.

I'd upgrade it. Get a good vid card and expand to 1 gig of ram.
