should I sell my car and buy a truck?

I've got a 200sx, 104k miles. It's very reliable and I am confident it will last me a long time. I've recently bought a house, and it seems like I'm borrowing a truck every freaking day: grill, pegboard, 2x4's/other lumber, large light fixture, kitchen table, iron pipe for grill, etc etc etc.

I could probably get $4k for the car. It's in excellent condition, no problems with it, etc.

Here's the thing: I ride my motorcycle unless it's raining. I put maybe 2-3k miles a year on the car at most (for the past couple years)... maybe I should just get an old beatup truck for $2k and pocket the rest of the money? I can do about any repair needed that might go wrong with the truck.

Buying a new truck is not an option. There's no point in buying something that is rarely driven, I cannot afford, and will simply depreciate.

Keep the car. When I originally bought my house I had a truck and used it all the time. I no longer have a truck nor do I need it as much.

also consider the fact that while the car isn't worth much - it will only depreciate. I could buy an old beater truck that's already depreciated and not take the hit 3-4 years down the road.

I have a truck and will never get ride of it. I'll buy a car for day to day when i can afford to but having atruck and not having to rely on someone else is nice.

I don't have a good place to keep a trailer (2 car garage, and I use all of the space)

I guess I could keep it under the back porch or something.

Sell the car, get a truck. $2k should get a fairly decent one. I'd generally consider an old beatup truck somewhere between $300-$1200.

$2K could get you a decent truck if you know where to look. I'm thinking a Blazer or Landcruiser.

I'd personally keep the car because it will last you for a while.
I used my truck to work on my house every weekend for the first two years or so, but now I don't really need it just for the house.

Blazers and Landcruisers are SUV's.

I think he is thinking F150, Silverado, etc.

Keep the car and borrow a truck or just buy a cheap old truck for the time being, then sell it later on.
