Should i replace my proj. bulb or get a new one??

well its weird, my bulb hit 2000 hours, and now it will start up fine, but the proj wil say
"its been 2000 hours, time to replace bulb" or something to that effect. its like no matter what, even if the bulb is still good, it makes you replace it because it has been 2000 hours, is there a way to over ride this?

My Optima has a setting that lets you reset the lamp clock. You have to do that anyway after you put in a new bulb.

My Optima has a setting that lets you reset the lamp clock. You have to do that anyway after you put in a new bulb.

is it a software reset or hardware, is it a button or a menu option?

The latter. It's in there. All projectors I've ever seen are that way. Mine too (Infocus 4805)

you should be able to reset the lamp timer in the projectors menu.. I've got a Proxima Ultralight LX-1 that I got in back in 2000...the thing was MSRP of $7000....and I picked it up for $700...
You should be able to find a good price on a replacement bulb for a few hundred bucks. That's just one of the expenses of having a "toy" of that caliber to play with.

ok yeah, so i totally found in the manual how to reset the bulb time, i get 10 minutes of boot time before it will shut down. what are my chances of using the bulb more then 2000 hours?

It's a warning only. It's just letting you know that your bulb is getting long in the tooth and you should have another one standing by. Most lamps will easily outlive their rated life span.

So that you don't get caught with no picture when you really need one, buy a lamp and sit on it until you need it. It's perfectly fine to run the lamp you have until it blows. Who knows, you might even get another 2000 hours out of it. I've seen 2000 hour lamps run for 6000 hours. It all depends on how you use the projector.

Since you rarely use your projector and when you do you let it run for a few hours before shutting it down, you will likely get more than the rated life out of your lamp. Lamps are like airliners... It's not the miles, it's how many pressurize/depressurize cycles it does through. Same with the lamp, it's not the hours so much as the heat up/cool down cycles it goes through.

then i guess i shouldnt have gotten so mad at my roommates for leaving it on all night after they have passed out.
