Should I remove the Vance and Hines pipes and go back to factory?

Honestly, go with what you like best personally. If you've got one of the newer bikes with EFI, an intake, pipes, and a custom tune can liven the bike up a lot. Obviously it's not going to turn it into a 1/4 mile screamer, but it can very nicely broaden the torque curve.

The V&H sound better, and unmodified stock pipes will almost always perform worse than aftermarket pipes. Factory pipes are designed for EPA regs, not performance.

I like the second one better.

Maybe I'm just old and crotchety, but I've just about had my fill of a loud exhausts. Car motorcycles and trucks I hate all the loud exhausts equally.

And get off my lawn.

Pretty much, I agree.....freaking Harley's are as loud as a damn car with open headers......They ought to all be required to run mufflers, IMO. And don't start with that "Loud pipes save lives" bullshit. Totally bogus argument.

You're an idiot and you've obviously never ridden a bike with loud pipes.

The 2nd one sounds better. Also, I doubt that's a stocky Harley exhaust, most likely it has been modified in some way, eg, drilled, baffles taken out, volumes removed, etc.

Vance and Hines pipes are very popular, probably the most popular aftermarket pipe maker for Harley. They make good products and with a proper tune/filter/pipes, they will give you more power/sound than the stock pipes.

Again those aren't stock Harley pipes in the video lol.

You're an idiot for ASSuming any of that.

I ride a bike with loud pipes (moderately loud, typical Harley's have louder ones), and I also ride a bike without loud pipes. I see the difference in the way people react around me. I will admit that it has a greater effect on pedestrains than it does on cars, which is good for me, as I ride in a big city sometimes. If I were to agree with you and say loud pipes don't make a difference, then I would at least have the benefit of most people not tailgating me due to the constant thud which can get super annoying, super quick, inside a car. If that was the only benefit of a loud pipe and nothing else, I'd still have them. I'm the type of guy that will take every chance he has to increase my safety when I'm riding simply because I can't rely on other drivers to be smart.

If a loud pipe gives me a 1 % safety advantage, I will take it. Do you see my reasoning?

What kind of experience and comparisons do you have riding bikes with loud pipes and without?

Please share your thoughts and results sir, I am eagerly waiting to hear this. Till then I suggest you stfu as clearly you have no idea what you're talking about.

I hate Harleys for this reason. Driving to Vegas one ended up in front of me for 30 minutes or so and my head was throbbing. I would pass him and he would accelerate and get back in front of me thinking I was racing or something. I ended up getting off the highway and grabbing lunch early so I didn't have to be behind him.

^ I know, it's annoying, but you can always slow down and put a good distance between you and him. I personally don't find loud pipes annoying, I actually like hearing the crackle of a bike opening up while I'm sitting in my backyard having a beer, but that's me, I can't say the same for other people. I also know some of you guys in the US have it worse depeding on the location you're in.

What I do find annoying is people on jet ski's around our marina where we keep our sailboat. Nothing ruins a peaceful time more than a few idiots running their sea-doo's up and down the same strip of lake for hours on end, jumping each others mini waves over and over again. Those guys I just want to take a rocket launcher and destroy.

I shouldn't have to slow down because some fucktard didn't get enough attention as a child. Listening to a bike go by in the distance is fine, whatever. Hearing it for extended periods of time on the other hand.

i doubt there are any states that allow any vehicle to run without a muffler. i know i got nailed for it when i lost mine and didnt want to put it back on right away. judge even went outside and stuck a pencil in the exhaust of my bike to make sure it was there.

you should get a car that has better sound proofing as well as a better stereo. or take the tampon out and grow a pair.

i have a modified cb750 honda that usually runs a kirker 4 to 1 header for exhaust. when i swapped it out for some drag bars and cherry bombs, it was louder, more throaty and definitely got me more noticed in traffic. with the kirker set up id have to get the rpms up over 3500 to make enough noise to be noticed. when i ran straight drag pipes (not recommended) i had people rolling up windows at intersections. when i resurrect my bike as a chopped up bobber, it will run drag pipes with a minimum of back pressure and oversized pipes, just because i like that sound. besides, its fun to cruise through parking lots and see whose alarms are set to high sensitivity :D

I have a convertible and a very loud stereo. Maybe you loud ass motorcycle riders need to realize that to 90% of the population you look like a lovely human begging for attention. Your exhausts are no better than ricers and big fart pipes, and your motorcycles are no more special than their civics.

I would liketo clarify this is talking about exhausts which drone. I have no problem with a loud WOT. Any exhaust I have ever put on a car I made sure that drone wasn't any issue, for others and myself.

actually, you look like a douche in a convertible trying to impress anyone that will look at you. now that we have both generalized everyone, fuck off. my bike doesnt run straight pipes, it has had both racing pipes as well as some pipes that made it sound a bit rumbly and louder. neither of them sound like your piece of shit 4 banger convertible with a fart can on it. and im pretty sure running 115hp and only weighing about 600lbs makes it a bit quicker off the line than a civic, and a bit more special.

see? i can be a dick just like you.

Sorry bud, my car has a stock exhaust because it flows well enough and doesn't sound like shit. I have no need to impress anyone, I have a girl, I have a good job, go to a good school, and overall have a pretty good life. My car isn't special, that's why I haven't put an annoying exhaust, blingy rims, or anything else external on it. All of my modifications make it go faster, not draw attention.

The performance of your bike has nothing to do with how special it is. If it was an MV Agusta or similar, then it is special because it is rare, Italian, and beautiful. You're just another Honda cruiser with racing pipes (I don't know about your other pipes, I'd have to hear them) trying to set off car alarms and such, no different than a 16 year old with a civic and a big wing. Just another douche on the road with no regard for anyone else.

cb750 wasnt really a cruiser, i went to pretty good lengths to make it sit back and up a bit, to get it away from the cafe it was originally. i dont really like sitting forward when i ride. i mainly tossed in the "special" part because you came off like such a dickwad about the whole thing, which pushed my buttons i guess. while you bitch about loud engines, people in their houses are bitching about that asshole driving by with the very loud stereo.

point is, people often bitch about others actions without taking a moment to realize they are annoying to someone else in a way they havent thought of or care about. shit happens. the "get a louder stereo" part was a joke from a local shop out here in az, they used to have a commercial where a guy was complaining that his car was making weird noises, and they suggested getting a better car stereo.

my truck is all stock too, down to the oem steel rims. i havent done any bolt on performance stuff on it, but i think the guy that had it before me put a muffler on it since its a bit louder than stock. sometimes it bothers me, most of the time i dont hear it.
