Should I reformat if I switch out my motherboard?

I had an Abit AV8. I did a fresh install of WindowsXP onto my Raptor using the AV8. I then swapped out the motherboard for a new AV8. Should I reformat again because I installed a new motherboard even if its the same make and model? I'm asking because I just got a blue screen of death when I was using Windows and that usually means bad motherboard or memory or windows doesnt like the new board 🙁
 
Update, now it blue screens everytime I try to boot up unless I relax the memory timings to very very loose ones. I ran timings of 2-3-2-5 on my Asus K8V SE before I upgraded. I don't understand it 🙁 WindowsXP installed fine on the original AV8 with the tight timings mentioned above.
 
When using the same motherboard you do not need to do a clean OS install. In fact Windows XP is really good about letting you do a repair install when you switch to a different mainboard.

Motherboards are like cpu's and video cards when it comes to overclocking, it's the luck of the draw. It sounds like your new k8v requires different timings to run stable. Try bumping the memory voltage and run tighter timings.

Even if it was the same chipset but different motherboard he would have a fair chance of it booting OK.
 
John, is absolutely correct. When it comes to mobo with tight and loose timing performance it's all about luck. If it's identical board why did you have to replace it anyways? But that's all water over the bridge now. All you can do now if hope for a better mobo or live with that you have. Just my 2 cents.😎

Agreed. Not so long ago I changed my P4C800-E for the exact same motherboard and there is really no need to reformat, even though the new Mobo was a slightly different version.
