Should I quit my job today or tomorrow?

So I?ve been temping at this place, doing data analysis. It?s not in my career field. I have a new job starting Monday that is in my career field. Ordinarily I?d stick it out at this place for the last day, but this job only pays 10/hr. We're currently still in training (it takes about 3 weeks of training, and tomorrow is the last day). The job is VERY complex, and the pay is shit for what I do. The recruiter screwed up and thought it was much higher then called me the day before I was to start to let me know it was only 10.

So if I do come in tomorrow, I?d have 80 more bucks in my pocket. If I don?t, I get a 3 day weekend. Now, the caveat, we're having a contest with all the new workers based on knowledge we've picked up during training. I'm currently in 1st place, or 1 point out of 2nd (which is easy to make up). We've been promised that the winner will receive 'fabulous prizes'. So there is that draw...

just work for that 80 bucks, you may need that. you can possibly get another call tomorrow saying your new job is gone.

I'd stay, get $80 extra, and use that to buy something that would give me some sort of enjoyment.

Maybe a good bottle or two of alcohol, or just 4 bottles of jack and call it a weekend. Make it your goal to drink it all this weekend with a hot chick 😛

I'd stick it out for the potential of fabulous prizes. But then again I'm the kinda guy that would take a mystery box over a boat. You just never know what could be in there, could even be a boat!

i'd go. 80 bucks is 80 bucks. what else ya gonna do on a friday besides sit on your ass at home and play video games. unless you got friends who are still in school and can party on a friday morning/afternoon, you'd be stuck drinking by yourself anyway. besides it's training, you can pay as little attention as you want. maybe you'll win a fabulous water bottle, or tshirt

They know it's going to happen. Apparently they do this a few times per year. They hire us in batches of 8 because the pay is so shitty they only retain a shade under 1/3 of the people. I'd feel worse if they didn't gouge the pay by 30% the day before I was supposed to begin. I haven't made this little since high school. I'm taking a job on monday in the social sciences and it's paying almost 50% more. That right there should tell you something...

Quit tomorrow and then come back and tell us what fabulous prizes you won. Then when we find out it was a kush ball or frisbee, we can all laugh at you for not quitting today.

I am quitting my job tomorrow and going into a job dealing with data analytics.

However the pay is slightly better than 10/hr.

it's a temp job. this is assumed. Temp agencies essentially screw their "employees" as it is. nature of the business.

exactly. I can't tell you how many times I showed up for a 'long term 6 month contract' only to be told by the people at the business that they never told the agency it was 6 months, that it was 2 days, and they told the agency repeatedly.
