Well the GF4 is gonna be quite a bit more.. I think.. but the GF3 Ti200 for $107 is a great price. Personally, i'd wait because I always want the newer hardware but you can't go wrong with a $107 Gainward GF3 Ti200

Great deal on the Gainward!

Would really depend on how much gaming and 3D work you do. An occassional gamer could easily use this board with much satisfaction, where as the hardcore will definetly wait for the 4200 thats if they have not already got the 4400 or 4600 :)

thanks guys for the input.

I'm a casual gamer but do love the eye candy of each game. Recently, i notice my old voodoo5 isnt gonna provide enough horse power to game with MOHAA. Thats why I'm looking into upgrades, I came to realize GF4 4200 is roughly a month away and saw a gainwind GF3TI200 for $107 shipped today. Impluse almost got me into buying it heh heh.

The GF4 Ti4200 will still be 80+ bucks more when it is released. The Gainward Ti200 will o/c to ti500 speeds which is plenty of FPS for the game(s) you most likely play.

I would snag that $107 card as fast as you can.
Since you have been able to somehow use a V5 all this time, the GW should hold up well for quite a while as well.
Even "if" you see a good deal on another card in a few months, you should be able to resell the GW for nearly what you paid.

The thing with video cards is you should never wait.
As soon as the 4200 comes out, the next version will be right around the corner, so why get the 4200 when
you can wait a short time and be better off? Then this cycle continues, over and over, and you will never get
a video card. Instead, get the best deal you can for what you need today. You will not be sorry.

Heck, I have a Visiontek GF3 Ti200, and for $107 I am tempted on upgrading to the GW Ti200.
Have tested a couple, and they blow away the VT card.
So PM those that want to know where you can get the card for that price.
If you post the link, I don't think I could resist the deal.

snag it. I am sure you could still get some decent money for the voodoo5 in the fs/ft forum. Lots of voodoo afficianados still keep an eye out for those.

No, the Newegg refurbs for Gainward are not usually OEM.
They state OEM/Barebones for their own protection, as manuals, CD's, or other may be missing.

They are usually cards that were returned as defective, and checked out, and if they "appear"
to be O.K, then they are put in refurb section. Friend returned his "New" GS due to issues with Counter Strike.
Replacement card worked fine, so problem was with the card he returned. So I'm sure his old card ended up
in the refurb section, because unless the tester was real picky and tested with Counterstrike, he would probably
not see any problems. Returned card did seem fine otherwise, and easily overclocked to 262core/561mem. :D

You never know where a Newegg refurb has been, or what problems previous buyer had with it (or how much they overclocked it).
Chances are, it will be flacky with thing or another though.
