To eaches own as they say, that's why there are so many different computer cases out on the market. Everyone has there own likes and dislikes. As for me, I get and use what I like and could care less what anyone else thinks of it, I got it for me, not anybody else.

"dang..I could put a cushion on it and have a nice seat as well as a computer. "

I have a pad on the top of mine when I'm not working on it and use it for extra desk space.................😉

You might try going to a local metal shop, a company that does custom sheet metal work. If you took the time to layout want you want, they might be able to make it a bit cheaper. I've had a fair bit of custom metal work done, most of it out of stainless steel, and by laying out each piece I saved a LOT of money.

What do you mean by "by laying out each piece I saved a LOT of money"??

I yea I'd like to design it myself, and out of Stainless Steel. I don't love aluminum because it's light, means it can't stop noise.

What I mean is that rather than walking in saying I want a stainless steel box this size with holes here and there, I made full size patterens of everything I wanted. The metal shop then cut the shapes I wanted, punched the holes, and bent the lips I needed to join it all together. I then screwed it all together and put in a few other parts.
This was actulay a stainless steel vent hood over a gas range, with some odd angles and holes for a fan and controlls. When I went in and said I need this size with theese holes in it, the price was $1100. After I did all the thinking and drawing, the price droped to $200. It took me about 3 hours to lay it out and screw the parts together, so I netted about $300 an hour for my time. It was worth doing.

You mean like print plans on a plotter? Or will regular sheets pf paper do?

That depends. For simple parts a clear plan is fine. Say a side panel with 1 fan hole in it. All they need for that is the lengeth of each side, the size of the lip around the outside and the hole center. And keep it all in inches and fractions. Bear in mind that stainless is a bitch to work with, if you decide at a later date to add more holes you prolly won't be able to do it with a hole saw.

yup, thats why i said "I think"

anyway, its awesome you found one you liked cause i cant find one that i like.

Nice job Jen🙂 So works what you do in the barn🙁

Greenman thanks a lot. I'm going on vacation but soon as I get back I'm designing a rugged SS case to block all noise, hold all the goodies etc. Keep y'all posted.

I personaly do not like it. Have you considered a Lian-Li 1000V? they are GORGEOUS...

Anyway... do you want it for your personal computer?

Looks are personel...I like it..reminds me of a sun server case I once had but stupid me threw it in the dumpster. I kinda have a "6 month rule", if I don't use XYZ object in 6 months it's trash to prevent junk build up...sometimes it bits me and I regret it like now😛 That sucker was awesome.. about 110Lbs empty solid stainless steel. The PSU was also SS and as big as a shuttle SFF with massive inductors, xformers, caps...all american made very clean.

Lian Li = effeminate = metrosexual.

Plus the Lain Li I have has paper thin skin, except the front door..
