Should I move to Boston?

for someone who has lived in both places, California has greater options for everything
but you pay the price montetarily.

Boston is a nice place to live tho, i recommend everyone living there a couple years
or else life wouldn't be the same..

OK, you love Boston. Why not go there for college (Boston's the pre-eminent college town anyway), then come back to Cali with the paper in hand a little more 'worldly' & wiser from your experience. With a worsening affordable housing shortage and resultant ever-skyrocketing home prices, it might be tough getting 'settled' again though in another 4-5 years.

Do you mean your family would move there, or you'd just go there for college? I'd definitely recommend against going to college 3000 miles away... but then again, anything that gets you away from the west coast can't be too bad.

Move here for college and then go back to Cali after before you start saying "Darn college kids are ruining this city!"

I've heard you make a lot of comments about how you love Boston in previous threads, so move here for a while. If you like it here better, stay. If not, then you can always go back to Cali after college.

BTW: I live in the Boston area and go to school in the city and love it, but I'm looking to go somewhere else for college because I've been here my entire life and I need a change of scenery.

We BeanTowners rule.

Town initiation claims you have to bring 4 hot chicks for every dude you move into a Boston apartment.

I would imagine parking in Boston would be like that since it is a highly congested city. I really do think the traffic in Boston is worse then Manhattan. The weather there is by no means comparable to California.

The fact that you want to attend BU is enough for the move. You can always move back after you get your degree...

More like $30 in a lot, if you can find one. That's why I always take public transportation everywhere I go. The "T" here is cheap and covers the entire city and most of the metro area. The Green Line isn't great but at least it gets you there.

For school it is a great place, there is BU, BC, Harvard and many more...however if you are into IT and looking for a job I would say pass as they are few and far between, plus cost of living here is pretty awful....

Parking can be as high as $80/Day depending on where you park and what you consider a (Day) usually if I park in the city for 8 hours I am looking at $40-$50 at a nicer garage...whereas in DC it would cost about $12-13....

good luck

Is it cheap to live there? Even if I don't go to Boston for college, I want to reside there. I will visit Boston some day with my family first.

I like the California state motto: Snow is something you visit. We have championship ski areas a couple of hours drive from our major cities, but when you're tired of being cold and wet, you can go home, and it doesn't follow you. The words, snow and shovel are associated only by choice. 🙂

We also have a great selection of fresh produce all year around.
