Should I move to Australia?

This may be a little premature, but I thought I'd toss some ideas around.

I've learned that there's a very large purchasing agreement in the works in Australia for my company's products. I learned about this from another engineer co-worker in Brisbane. If it goes through, they will need to add a bunch of new field engineers to support the new installations. He told me that he could put in a recommendation for my consideration for a transfer to Australia. He himself is an international transfer from England. Given my training and level of experience, I think I'd be a pretty high probability selection.

Right now, I'm 32, and I own a townhouse in Seattle, but I'm not married, no kids, not even a girlfriend at the moment. I do have family here in Seattle and other areas of Washington, so separation from them is a bit of a concern for me. I do know some people in Australia -- primarily in Sydney. Also, for what it's worth, I play rugby so I'd have a means of socializing down there, I'd imagine.

I can't say with any certainty what areas in Australia they'll require field service support, but in general I'm sure it would center around major cities. I don't think I'd want to transfer to live in Perth, for example, but Melbourne, Sydney, or other South/East areas of Australia would be acceptable to me.

I guess I think opportunities like this don't come around often, and if I happen to see a door open, I should take it. Anyone else think so too? Disagree?

Ahh ha ha ha XD XD XE That explains a whole lot...Thanks ^_^

Why won't you just die?

Because god put me here to humiliate liars and hypocrites like you and your boy friend.

We can see the unedited posts, and obviously the person you referred to also saw it prior to your edit. The good news: your two week vacation has been revoked. The bad news: you have a 2 month vacation.

Just edit that back to the way it was. It was no more offensive or irrelevant, and the mods can view your original version anyway.

Yep, I already saw it. -Admin DrPizza

This thread is still alive?

Since my last post, I did visit/scout Oz (big city in Western Oz) a few months ago. These are my own first hand observation.

Pros:
Clean, compare to US. The beach and rivers were nie.
Not too hot even my trip was during the warm months in Oz.

Cons:
Cost of living. Everything was more expensive than US. I even shopped at Target in Oz and the prices were higher than US Target.
The downtown area was very much dead after the sunset.

I did not see any snakes or spiders or wild animals. Oh, and the economy is slowing down a lot plus Oz dollars are lower than US dollars now (1 USD = 1.1 AUD)

Well, since we're all here, how about an update, OP?

DERP, just bothered to look at his location. It's a safe bet that he didn't take or didn't get the job.

The position never became available, since everyone wants to know. There was no good reason to bump this thread except it seems I may have a forum stalker. I'm so flattered.

Since you are a dude and you are (I assume) white, then I say yes. My buddy moved down there with his Aussie wife a few years ago and he said it's the best choice he ever made and that it is much easier to make a good living and

I have some idea, though nothing too specific, on how Seattle relates to Vancouver with respect to cost of living but if it's close to what we deal with here, then I say head down there while you are still young and make the most of it.

Edit: ah fuck, stupid ass Silver Prime troll fuck.
