Should I move from XP pro to W2K server?

I am contemplating going to W2k Server on my machine since I can get the server OS for free from my school under the MS Academic Alliance.

What will going to the Server OS keep me from doing? I am not too concerned about games (I have not installed any for quite a while).
The software I am most concerned about:
-Quicken
-MS Office (developer ed)
-MS Project
-MS Visio
-MS Visual Studio
-Borland JBuilder
-SQL Server (I already know that this gets better with the server OS)
-Media Jukebox

And the peripherals:
-Logitech z-560 speakers
-USB connectivity to: PDA, digital camera, Bluetooth adapter, UPS

My rig:
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (1666MHz)
Motherboard: Chaintech 7vjl
Memory: 512 MB of Mushkin DDR (PC-3200)
Video Card: ATI 8500 (Radeon)
Hard Drive: Maxtor 40.0 GB @ 7200 RPMS
Additional Hard Drives: 2 80GB Seagate Baracuda IVs in Raid 1 off of a 3Ware 7500-4 controller
Monitor: Dell 19in
CDR/CDRW Manufacturer & Model: TDK 40x12x48
Sound Card: onboard CMedia 8738
Operating System: Windows XP Pro
Other Components: Case: Lian-Li PC-68
PS: Enermax Whisper 430W

Thanks,
Mike

Games, DirectX, etc shouldn't be hindered by Win2k server. It is not loke NT 4.0 where there was no USB or game support.

Possible problems:
Antivirus software - some / all will refuse to run telling you to buy their server version
Partition Magic - starting with 5 or 6 even the DOS version looks for server OS and refuses to run if it finds any on the HD.

All of the MS apps and jukebox should work fine (as will Exact Audio Copy), I don't know about quicken (check their site -- if it lists W2K Pro it should run fine on Server too).

W2K Server and Pro are identical except for some features being turned off in pro, so apps that run in pro will run fine on server unless (like P Magic) the vendor has put in a block to make you buy a more expensive server version.

1)If you run IIS, with the server OS, you will be able to have more than one of each type of site (not just default website, and default ftp).

2)Not as likely to be a problem, but with the server OS, you will be able to set up more robust security.

NT 4 plays some games just fine, it's only DirectX (ironic, eh) games that don't work. I've played OpenGL games like HL and Q3 and they run great.

2)Not as likely to be a problem, but with the server OS, you will be able to set up more robust security.

Care to elaborate on this? Both Pro and Server have access to all the same ACLs and GPs, using GPs kinda suck if you're not a member of an AD but that's probably not an issue here.

Perhaps I am wrong, but I think that the Sever OS lets you create a domain controller. Probably only useful in the case of a local network, which is why I said that it would not be as important.

What I know about the server OSs is very limited since I have not had a chance to play with them (yet). So feel free to correct anything That I say.
