If you need to ask here, moving back with the parentals is probably your only option.

It's not actually, I could continue on living where I am right now. Renting out a room in a townhouse with a very nice older lady who loves to do gourmet cooking. Just she is a heavy smoker, and I'm not at all. Having smoke when I'm eating kinda makes me ill.

oh well geez, sweetie.. you're in pretty much the same situation now as you would be at home, except it costs more and your lungs are getting polluted.. move home!

anno (pardon the sweetie thing, I have a 21yo daughter of my own. :) )

go for it, just make sure that you set aside the money you are making instead of spending it all and accumulating ****** in your parents house.

Actually I see something wrong with the scenario.

They ask you, not you asking them so why are they charging you $400 ??
Thats awefully steep rent to be living with the parents.

If I was a parent and I'm asking my kid to live with me, I'd do it for free or $200 top.

i don't see why not.. that's $200 your'e saving a month at least. and it's not like you've got your own place now, so it won't be much of a change

Nah, they're pretty good in that respect. They don't need to know where I'm at 24/7 and they're cool if I have friends over and such, just the fact that I'm 21 and living with my parents still is what the con means.

i'm 23 still living at home w/my mom. i'm saving $$$ though instead of pissing it away to rent somewhere where i won't get any returns on it. i dont plan on moving until i can purchase.

oh and also, my GF lives with me there as well.

I don't see any problems with you living with your mom, but you AND your GF live with your mom?

Pick up a freezer box (a good sturdy one mind) and take a marker and put a number on it, pick up some blankets, and you're set. Shower at school (if you feel thats important), cook on a little camp stove, and in the winter you never need to worry about your food going bad. Too bad you don't have a car; those stay a little warmer, but as long as you keep your box and blankets dry it shouldn't be too bad. If its a really nice box, you might want to pack it to school with you to prevent someone else from stealing it.

how old are you? set a time frame for when you'd be moving out. Too many people get comfortable and just live with their parents for way longer than they should. I'm graduating in may, and plan on moving back in with my parents for ~1 year to save up money. After that i'm going to get my own place, because financially in northern va, i can use the saved cash!

I move in and out of my parents as I need to. My parents rule, living with them is great.

If your parents are lenient and don't nag at you 247, then I say, sure why not. If they still require a curfew and still treat you like a kid, then no.

It sounds like a very nice deal financially, but you have to decide what's best for you overall.

How much freedom/independence will you have if you live with your folks?
