Should I mention this to my bosses?

Ok, so I recently started this new job working with mentally ill people in the community. There's this company vehicle we use to drive groups of clients around to appointments, outings, etc. I noticed that one person in particular CONSTANTLY texts while driving. I'm not talking about at red lights either. She'll be looking down at her phone for 6-9 seconds at a time, even 12 seconds on occasion. Talking to her would be fruitless, she's the "whatever..whatever..I'll do what I want" type. Should I mention something to my superiors about this? Maybe not be specific and just say something like "I've noticed people texting quite a bit when they drive..." or something along those lines?

update: I told her that even though I was new and didn't want to step on any toes I had seen one of the staff members texting while driving the van, to the point it would be veering in the lane on the road. I asked if she could put out a memo or something along those lines asking staff not to. She was concerned, and thanked me for bringing it to her attention.

I suggest you drive your car in front of her. Hit the brakes. Collect the insurance.

i would, especially if i had to ride with her and trying to work it out between yourselves isn't working...you have tried to talk to her about it yourself, right?

The right thing to do is to tell them.
The wrong thing to do if you want to keep your job in a healthy state is to tell them.

Yes. Is that even a question?
I don't think you should talk to her at all. She likely knows what she does and if it were to come that she was later reported to your boss, she'd know it was you.

Have you considered talking to her about it first? Ya know, handle the problem on the lowest level possible.

True. Maybe she is sexting the boss?

BTW, is this company called SPEC? I live in NC and see a chick doing this as well. She drives a SPEC van.

I'd report it yes. If you're worried about your job, call it in anonymously, say you were sitting next to her at a light and saw her texting on her phone and that she wasn't paying attention, or whatever.

Are you doing this because you think it's the right thing to do, or just because you like being that squeeky wheel?

I don't think the fire generated in a crash would be enough to melt the van.

Sounds a bit like scorned love, dude....

sucks to be you, but getting her in trouble at work isn't going to help you any.

Correct, but getting her into trouble may just help save her passengers.

If the girl won't know that it was you, yes tell the boss. If she would know it was you, first tell her, and if she doesn't stop, then tell the boss. That is very dangerous

Tell your boss(es). If she piles up the van and hurts herself, they're liable for worker's compensation...that's the minor consideration in this.
If she piles up the van and hurts/kills someone else...they're liable for a LOT more.

Tell them it doesn't matter if she kills herself...they don't want to be held responsible for her killing someone else.
