My good friend has offered me a deal if i switch to macs for a time period. Here is the deal:
-He gets my 1 & only computer, my gaming box and takes it to his house for 3 months
-He buys me a refurbed PPC mini mac to use in the mean-time
-I must learn Ruby on Rails programming langauge, He of course helps w/ everything
-I build a real estate website for him to prove my programming skills (he said it would take about 40 hours)... I can stretch it over the 3 months
-If i succesfully complete training i get 1k in a check + my old computer + I get to keep the mac!
Now, this is a hard decision. Summer is right around the corner and w/o a gaming PC i'll miss a lot of time w/ my friends playing video games. And of course, i've put my blood, sweat and tears into the rig, it will be letting a part of me go
Its too bad I don't know squat about programming... I used to know a bit of HTML but that was way back...
But, a new computer & 1k is pretty sweet too. He points out that the mac & 1k are worthless, the real prize is in learning ruby on rails. If i get good enough I can start working for him on projects making 30-35 an hour.
Anyone have any suggestions? Do you think this is fair? My main concern is my lack of programming skills. Can a person really plunge head first into ruby on rails and learn?
