Should I learn Excel 2003 or 2007?

I like the 2007 interface but my classmates and professor experienced some compatibility issues when they tried to open up my Excel sheets, so I don't know...should I switch back to 2003? I am also in the process of learning Excel, really trying to get good at it, so I need to decide which platform (or version) I should base my learning from.

They're not all that different you know...

That said, go with 2007. You can always save in compatibility mode, but you'll need to less and less as the years pass.

hey noob.

in 2k7 you can save in 2003 format and older formats.

Your professor is a N00b too for not suggesting this.

when you save the excel spreadsheets, save them as excel 97-2003.

You're going to want to learn 2007 since that'll be most used in the future...

I would say the interface is the most drastic change in many years.

Ok, so stay with 2007 then.

The problem is that whenever I tried to save in compatible format (say 97-03 format), it says there will be some "losses" due to this and that. Should I be concerned about the warning? I saved them anyway and reopen up the file just to see what was lost, I didn't notice anything different...so I guess I am safe?
