Should I keep drinking?

Hi ATOT!!

I'm at a pub waiting for maintenance on my car to finish. Don't worry - I have no plans to drink and drive; I can leave my car at the dealership over night if necessary.

I'm at a pub in the city that serves a couple of great tasting IPAs. I just had a 1/2 pound burger topped with peameal bacon, bacon, and a fried egg. It's a long weekend in Ontario, and I don't have to be back at work until 3:15PM on Tuesday. The burger tasted great; the beer tastes better. I like IPAs.

I'm by myself. I'm not here to pick-up any girls. There's a reason for that: I'm fighting with my wife at the moment. I'm not worried; we fight about stupid shit all the time and the make-up sex is great. I had some bullshit go down at work today, and I'm dealing with that and the aformentioned argument with my wife.

I have a lot of shit on my mind; the beer just helps me turn my brain off for the time being, but sometimes I exceed my limit.

So... what do you guys think?

I should mention that I'm still in my work clothes, and they are pretty dirty.

Well, I always like to think that the reason for drinking is important. One reason is: hey, I have time, no obligations, and a long weekend... let 'er rip! Your reasons sound different.

It is a long weekend and I have no obligations.

I just... don't want any escalation when I get home.

If you have to ask, you know shouldn't be doing it. Go home and get busy with the makeup sex.

Be safe, have a positive attitude. Drink a couple of beers, go home (safely) and make up with wifey.

You can drink, just don't get drunk. The issue is when people get carried away and get drunk and start to do stupid things. Couple beers or other drinks wont hurt.

In fact if you get home fully sober, not even tipsy, it will show the wife you are responsible. ;) She probably thinks you're out getting pissed drunk drinking your sorrows away, when in reality you just want some time alone.

The only thing worse than fighting with a spouse is fighting with a spouse drunk. Or fighting with a drunk spouse I suppose. Or both at the same time. The point is, if you're fighting with your spouse and the continuation of the fight is imminent, don't get wasted in the interim, because things will go worse for you. Make up, and THEN get drunk.

Good advice. I called her after my fourth pint of beer, and after having two pints of water. She wants to have one with me and all is civil now. I think the common sense solution was the best decision to make. Tonight will be fun. Thanks.

sometimes I need a reminder to hold on a little less tightly to the reins of life. Sometimes that reminder is a beer!

sometimes not a single fuck was given.

One reason I don't imbibe: drinking makes me feel good for fifteen, and then bad for fifteen hours. ;) I say, go for it.
