I've been using Norton for a couple years now. I have legit store bought copies and pay for all the good stuff, but for some reason I just don't think it's doing it's job anymore. I'm not the usual home desktop user, so I'm not sure whether I should even be usin git. I check the network connections sometimes and there are so many packets comming in and out I wonder if norton is even blocking anything. I have been running sygate personall firewall(free) on my laptop, and it just flat out blocks everything. I check the packets going in and out on that and it's not even 1/4 of what's going through my desktop.
Also, I don't have any viruses on my desktop or anything. I always keep it clean, run virus scans every night. Not spyway malware or anything like that either. It's just when using Norton traffic doesn't seem to be going through any kinda of bottleneck(if that makes sense).
I would almost prefer windows firewall sometimes. Does anyone have a better suggestion of what to use? I am probably going to keep Norton Anti-Virus however, it is the only utility i've used that has guaranteed me protection from viruses. No problems with it. The firewall though, somethings gotta change.
Thanks a lot!
