should I install the via 4 in 1 drivers for win xp?

I was under the impression that if your running XP you didn't need to use the VIA 4 in1's because XP has its own built in drivers.

Someone else will have to confirm this.

You don`t need to install them in XP since it does have native VIA drivers, btw I installed the VIA 4 in 1 drivers in my WinXP, it updates the inf files,I also installed the latest VIA AGP 4.10B driver and USB 1.10 filter driver,I only do because I like to have the latest drivers.

I`ve had no problems with my VIA drivers so far 🙂.

Windows XP has the 4-in-1s included with it. Don't install newer versions unless you're having problems.

I too did the same thing Mem did. The 4-in-1's (4.37a) automatically detect what's required and install it automatically. I think it was only the Inf files for IDE. I also feel you should install the VIA AGP 4.10B driver. No problems for me so far...

You might want to download the updated sound driver if you are using the via ac97 sound chip. I had a buddy with the weirdest problem, only to find out later that it was the sound driver. I "think" we downloaded the 1.50a, but I wouldn't swear to it. It wasn't my system.

BTW, the problem was leaving a game and the computer would reboot instead of exiting to the desktop.
