thanks for dropping by.
I am buying a lcd tv as a computer monitor
I've being eyeing on syntax 32 lcd for 1100 bucks and BenQ 37 lcd for 2K.
I just don't know which one to go with.
How big is the visual difference when watching DVD with these babies?
How can I justify the extra 1K for 5 more inches?

Thanks

Really?
I heard some people said that they used sharp LCD Tv 37 as monitors and they were awesome.

BTW, the 37 one than I am thinking has a resolution of 1900X1200

Normal text might be a little blurry but with 37 inches, you can just super-size it to like 20 pt font and you'll be all set.

Yup.

I'd recommend the Dell 2405fp over any LCD TV. It's got a beautiful 1900x1200 resolution and it's nearly as big as a TV. MUCH better choice imo.

Sharp LCD-TVs in 37 inches are 13xx X 700ish. You have to get the 45" (IIRC) to get 1900x1200 in Aquos LCDs.

I think the Benq is only 1920x1080 as well.

It won't be bad, you'll just have to sit a good distance away from it.

I'd personally go for the Benq, as I'm a resolution whore.

I agree a Dell 2405 is an excellent choice as well.

When will computer & TV manufacturers finally get it through their thick heads that people don't want to look at a 20 inch monitor anymore than they want to look at a 20 inch TV? Come on guys, wake up!!!

For the price you're looking at you could just buy an HDTV and use Powerstrip software to run the PC on the TV. I hear Phillips HDTV's look great that way.

Big mistake, be sure you live close to store and keep you receipt.

LCD's montiors are bad enough but LCD TV's are horrendous. 80ms reponse.. crap resolutions..poor color.

Thanks, dude, I thought about that before, After I went to Bestbuy, I just think 24 inches is too small. I want a theater experience in my setup.

benQ has a 800:1 contrast ratio, and 8 ms of response time, should be good enough
BTW, regular projection HDTV just weight too big and heavy

Why not try a DLP or LCoS HDTV? I have an LCoS and most people I have talked to say it makes for a great computer gaming monitor.

I'm using a 26" with 1280x768 and it's great. Mounted in portrait mode it fits exactly 120 columns in teraterm at the font size I was using before buying it (and a heck of a lot of lines).

Very easy on the eyes having a large screen and being able to put it a little farther back than usual too. I admit I like stuff on my screen to be big and easy to read, though.

i would suggest you lookin into DLP (or Lcos, though i dont have any experience with them). u can pick up a 46 or 50" samsung dlp relatively cheap now, and it does great as a computer monitor. i suggest you go to avs forum and spend a few days reading before u drop a ton of money on something that may not be what u want.

Yeah and enjoy no cable or premium channels in hd. Have fun with over the air.

Seriously there isn't a good solution to digital tv on the pc (other than bittorrent) you'll be limited to analog cable and atenna hdtv.

Also check out Fry's

Some users have reported that they have the Apple 30" cinema Display for $2k.

That is probably your best choice and yes you can use it on a pc, you just need a dual link dvi card though other have run it with regular cards. Check google for more info.
