If your parents are expecting it, go for them.

I won't go to mine unless I have to.

And if they give me speaking time, I'm sure going to use it. I want to make them suffer for the years they've taken from me.

I'm not scheduled to graduate until '06. If you hate EE that much, I'll give you $5 for the degree ;)

I would definitely go. I'm not shelling out 25k per year NOT to get my damn diploma. Hell, I'll walk up their naked if I want to!

I'd go to the departmental graduation where they say your name. Not the huge one that's just a bunch of speeches.

And if the parents say they don't really care, then DEEP DOWN does that mean they really DO care? Jeez, my parents should tell me 100% what they want. JEEZ!!!

I thought about not going to graduation, but my parents told me "For what it is worth, we think you should go to graduation." This was their way of telling me that I had to go. I even went to the engineering convocation at 8AM. Looking back on it, I'm really glad I went. I don't regret it. Also, graduation at the University of Kansas is something you won't see many other places. We walk down the hill, through the Campinelle, and into Memorial Stadium. Simply amazing. It was an experience I will never forget. At the very least, go to the graduation to make your parents happy. If it is a waste of time, you've lost at most 5 hours. However, think about the memories you will miss out on if you don't go.

if and only if your parents contributed to your tuition, than you owe it to them. I know I will be walking...

Skipped out of EE myself too... overrated. I graduated with a BS in CS.. and walked... and I forgot what happened... but did it for the folks... but it was nice running around with the gown taking pictures with friends afterwards... maybe you can skip the walk, and just be ready to take pictures with the folks and friends after? ;)

Currently, none. I'm taking a break.

Formerly Iowa State University. Computer Engineering. Accelerated everything, honors what-not, national merit finalist... didn't get me far.

I ran this last semester:

if (DiffEQ.Math267.JamesWilson > xirtam.GPA)
{
System.out.println("Xirtam loses scholarship");
}
else
{
System.out.println("Xirtam keeps scholarship");
}

and the output was:

Xirtam loses scholarship

so I decided I wanted to view my options for awhile before throwing money away on "education."

I think you should go. For some of my friends who I was not so close to or did not stay in the area, graduation was the last chance I got to see and say goodbye to them.

i would definitely go. i personally am not going to the college of letters and science graduation, but i am going to my department graduation since they will call my name there.

i want the pictures, and a ton of people want to see my graduate. i think it'll be great. and its only an hour long... which kinda sucks for all the money invested into getting a degree but eh what can you do. there's like fifty graduations going on over a three day span.

think of graduation as the culmination of all your accomplishments - be happy with what you've done. enjoy it - it isn't a long time. if you have a friend graduating with you, be sure to stick together so you're not bored during the ceremony.

I am EXACTLY like you...EE, didn't like it, parents 'forced' me to be an EE, want to get out of here, don't want to go to graduation.

But then I started thinking about it...What the hell would I do if I wasn't an EE? I personally think that I would hate anything that I would be studying. And then I see that my parents have spent all of this money for me and I know that they would be sad and hurt if I didn't go to graduation. Just go.

Not worth it. After all, after paying your fees for so long, why pay more for the caps n gowns?

I doubt I will walk at graduation. Not worth it in my eyes since I don't know many of the people I am graduating with, but that is what happens when the graduating class is ~10,000 people.
