Should I go snowboardng @ 6 am tomorrow?

anyways, the conditions are pretty crappy up there. They're making artificial snow, so that's making the mtn ok, but it is still pretty icy in a lot of places. It's VERY busy up there. ugh, it was busy yesterday, i can't imagine how busy it'd be on the 24th.

the snowmakers do sting when you pass by them hehehe.


but I had a fun time.

BUT..

since this is your first time, the conditions SUCK for beginners. A VAST majority of firsttime boarders have a horrible experience on their first time, and since the conditions are pretty bad, you'll beat up your body pretty badly due to the ice. But the only way to learn is from pain. never fear going down and going toeside. Whenever you see instructors nearby (usually up the top of the list), hear what they are saying hehehe (free lessons!)

but ya who u going w/? hehe.


in my opinion, the BEST time/place to learn boarding is any mtn with fresh fresh fresh packed fluffy snow. That's how I learned. My very first time, it was very easy to turn against the fluffy new snow (i arrived at mammoth mtn @ 5:30am, and my group was like the first up the mtn.). I had it lucky on my first time. you WILL FALL. A LOT. AND IT WILL HURT. A LOT. ESPECIALLY THE BUTT AND ARMS AND LOWER BACK.

where's the best place to go snowboarding and skiing near Southern Cali?

I heard someplace near san bernandino mountains/big bear/etc is a place to go skiing and snowboarding?

I'm heading to vegas tomorrow and on our way back, we want to stop by somewhere to go ski/snowboard

it's a mtn that's near bigbear. bear mtn resorts consists of 2 mtns. big bear mtn and snow summit.

the quality of both mtns are far superior to mtn high. Bear mtn is smaller.

mtn high sucks, but it's very close and much easier to drive up there. big bear is 1 hour more up the winding mtn roads.

that's the only problem, the drive up the winding mountain roads... in the newspaper, snow chains on the tires are required? do you know anything about that?

Also what's the price to rent the equipment for a day
 
If you're going with a group that is experienced, you won't have enjoy yourself a whole lot

I went skiing once with two friends on a trip from the school's ski and snowboard club.

I want to go again, I just need to find a friend who isn't good 😛
 
i was gonna head up there last week...but the conditions blow..cuz no rain...
and it was warm last week

dont go up tomorrow..the conditions will suck

wait for the rain next week...and then go then...or after...it will be alot better!

well, ya they are required, but there hasn't been much snow up there as of late, and it's been rather warm this past week, so i doubt there will be much snow/ice on the road, but have the chains ready just in case. you can always get them at any car store like autozone and pepboys.

as for equipment, it varies. at the resort, they'll overcharge you. it'll cost 30 for board + boots. skiis + boots are cheaper. There's a $300 deposit.

You will rent outside of the resort in any of the shops that lay on the side of the road. they go from $20-$25, w/ $100-$300 deposit.

tickets will run you about $40 depending on your age (cheaper if you're 21 and under).

if you go to bear or snow summit, you can take a shuttle and go to the other resort. the ticket you buy at one works for both, but that's only within that given day you buy the ticket.

bear mountain is mostly park.... if you're into that
 
i forgot...go to like chicks sporting goods

get a 6 pack...its 28 bucks per ticket

u dont have to use all of them the same day....u could save them or split w/ friends

its nice to save some $$
 
I would take snowboarding lessons, if it'll be your first time. It's best to learn the basics first and not start any bad habits.

Go to Bear Mtn or Snow Summit if you want more snow. It's a tougher drive, but should be well worth it. The lift lines are going to be Looooong, though 🙁
