Should I go for the Canon S5?

My wife had been deciding between 3 camera's recently (Sony Cybershot H9, Canon Powershot S5, and Olympus SP-560UZ) and decided the Canon had more of what she was looking for. But then with the recent release of the Olympus SP-570UZ it was almost enough to change her mind, but it got us thinking about a new Canon S series (S7 perhaps?).

I just wanted to get some opinions on what we should do. I've read in the reviews of the S5 that the lens on it has been around awhile, so would it make sense to think there will be a better lens on the next model? Should we just go for the S5? Or wait for the next Canon S series.

Or even consider some of the other similar cameras, like the Sony Cybershot H50 or Olympus SP-570UZ? Neither of us are very familiar with camera's and only have reviews to base our judgements on so far.

i wouldn't expect a replacement until august, if one even comes this year. undoubtedly it will be more expensive than the S5. it's very possible, imho, that the lens doesn't get any longer on the telephoto end (there really isn't much difference between 450 mm and 550 mm), but will get wider on the wide end (there is a big difference between 28 and 35 mm).
