But in answer to your question, OSPF can be told to generate it's own default gateway based on some calculations.

router(config-router)#default-information originate <always> metric <value>

This route WILL be resdistributed into IGRP or RIP or whatever else you are using for a routing protocol as long as you have redistrib turned on.

I talked to both CCIE's in the office and a couple of the
guys in router support that I respect and got the same answer:

Yep, I know. sucks.

that however is a question that three CCIEs I know had to do in the lab.
they couldn't get it to work either.

default-information originate command with OSPF is more related to how OSPF treats a default route. The trick is to get IGRP to accept it. tried everything in my home lab and notta.

my lack of hands on experience has clearly shone through today during the CIT test.
Needless to say it will be atleast a week before i attempt that test again. I need to practice more on my routers hands on.
I managed to score 70-80% on three of the categories but i got completely killed ( 0% :| on connectionless protocols)

I am most disappointed in myself.
well i guess i'll go crawl back into my hole now.
