before I start asking for help, i guess I should contribute first.

Take it from a guy that has owned over 12 large monitors, 5 in the last year, go for an LCD. Even if you dont move around much, CRTs produce alot of heat and expend alot of energy. This was ok in college but as I found out from being on my own for a while, electricity isnt as cheap as you think!
Also, be aware that LCDs with large pixels may annoy you. I remember I bought the planar lcds but returned them because I can see the black space in between the pixels, even from 3 feet away. That is why I stuck with an SGI since the pixel density is so dense, plus the planar looked like crap. I hope that helped. Look before you buy a monitor.

Can u lend me some money

Laptop LCDs aren't very much like LCDs for desktops. Not the same technology. I seriously doubt you could play games on a laptop LCD.

As for resolution. I have seen LCD's that go up to higher than 1600x1200. It just depends on how much you want to pay. Most 15inch LCDs are only going to run at the highest of 1024x768 where most 17inch LCDs top out at 1280x1024. it just costs a lot more on lcds for higher resolutions

Speaking from experience: gaming on my Inspiron laptop kicks butt! And actually, I posted about LCDs on the "Highly Technical" forum, and I thought LCDs, desktop and laptop, are quite similar technology... just a smaller form factor. About the only differences I know of are varrying color depths, image dithering, and maybe power draw, but otherwise nothing.
