its going for $420 AUS Brand new.

is it worth it? and is there any region restrictions on software or hardware i should know about?

That is a pretty usable rig for regular use and old games. To play COD or SCII would be another matter as games like SCII wants a powerful CPU to run it properly.

The HD5450 is also not a GPU that you want if you're looking forward to playing the latest titles as it is aimed at the low range. A proper gaming rig should have at least a mid range GPU.

You might be able to play those games but not at a satisfactory level that you would be pleasant with low FPS or low settings.

thanks.

Slightly better than the first option but definitely CPU will not be the determining factor when it comes to games which needs a better GPU than a CPU.

The second option has a better CPU and would remove one less part that you need to upgrade. If you have extra cash next time and you want a better gaming experience you can just pop in a better GPU. With the first option you would have to upgrade both the CPU and GPU.
