Should I get the OCZ Vendetta 2 or the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283?

I ordered my e7200 from Newegg... in fact it will be here Thursday! I now need a good air cooling solution for an oc to roughly 3.8 - 4Ghz.
I am considering either this Xigmatek or this OCZ cooler.

They both have the heat pipe direct touch (HDT) technology that I am interested in. They also have had pretty good reviews. I have my current e4300 oc'd to 3Ghz using the stock hsf. My puter is on 24/7... not out of necessity but I feel it is a waste turning my puter on/off everytime I want to use it. It idles at 39c and at full load at 55-60c. The stock hsf seems like a good cooling solution but it does tend to get loud. I know if I had a better hsf, I could probably run my e4300 to 3.2 - 3.3Ghz.

This will be my first aftermarket hsf so I want to make a good choice. I wouldn't mind carrying it through my next couple upgrades. I need some good advice.

MOD EDIT: Moving to Cases & Cooling, may get more replies. - Zap

The Vendetta 2 if you can find it in stock anywhere. It seems to have disappeared. Otherwise the S1283 is only a couple of degrees worse.

Thanks and sorry I didn't post here originally!

I was looking for the Vendetta 2 but couldn't find it in stock, so I opted for the Xigmatek S1283. It knocked 20c off of my load temp on a Q6600 @ 3G with the stock cooler. Here's one site with reviews of these two and others (TRUE, etc...).

Best CPU Coolers of Q1 2008

They used the same fan on all the heatsinks, so the temps better reflect what the heatsink can actually do.

This is another site, but I don't think they've reviewed the Vendetta 2.

They are the same cooler, just different names along with the Kingwin. Go with whichever one you can find for less$$.

Untrue, Kingwin is a clone of Xigmatek. But OCZ then copied their design and came out with the original Vendetta that was a bit different and worse. They then made the Vendetta 2 to be more like the original Xigmatek and actually surpasses it by a degree or two, so it's not the same.

Vendetta 2 = slightly redesigned Xigmatek 120mm HSF (1293)

Vendetta had longer fins (sorta in a v shape) than Xigmatek (hence not a clone), which lead to the need of including a higher rpm/louder fan. OCZ then copied the 120mm Xigmatek more closely.

I read somewhere they are all made by Xigmatek. I worked to long and am too tired to find it now though, it's no big deal.

Zaward invented HDT, Xigmatek licensed it and has been making or designing heatsinks for Kingwin, OCZ, and Nexus, as well as their own. There's another company called Ice Hammer that makes HDT heatsinks, and it looks like Sunbeamtech and SilenX licensed that. I've seen all of them rebranded by Chinese companies as well.

But that's not the end of the HDT invasion. Look at this completely different HDT design:

Noiseblocker Coolscraper 3.0

http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/rev...cker-coolscraper-30/3/

Outperforms the Xigmatek (according to this website at least), and only 17dB. But it's 59 Euros. Considering the price, the OCZ Vendetta 2 is still the best deal, but silent performance may be worth it to some.

That's not an original design though.

npowertek's had that since Socket 478 and Socket A days.
And Vendetta 2 is barely better than the Xigmatek S1283 for something like $10 more. So best value is the Xigmatek for $37

Question I have is if it's possible to incorporate the vapor chamber cooling design of Sapphire into these heatpipe/heat column designs?
The single slot Sapphire video cards with vapor chamber cooling showed temperatures similar to those of the reference dual-slot cooler design.

The Intel cooler that gets shipped with Extreme Edition CPUs uses vapor chamber technology. It's not exactly a heatpipe, though.

I ordered the Vendetta 2 this morning! I found an outstanding deal with free shipping from Amazon as you can see from the link!
The other great news is my e7200 cpu arrived from Newegg today!

Let us know your temps when you get it installed.

It's back in stock again, I'm going to order one tomorrow before it goes out of stock.

It is not the same deal. It now reads "Ships from and sold by ANTOnline." I got mine directly from Amazon for $37.95 shipped free. the deal is now $38.83 + $7.97 shipping.

The cooler does arrive tomorrow. Hopefully I will be able to test it before I leave for Vegas on Wednesday!

What I see from the link is a "referral id":

This can happen by accident, but I've been on forums where people try to make a few pence on the side this way...

I'm not quite sure what you are inferring, but the origional sale price, sold by Amazon, is OOS. The new price is from a different Amazon seller.

Look around on the page and you will notice it can still be ordered with free shipping at the same sale price from Amazon, but is OOS with delivery in 1 or 2 months.

It works the same way at other eTailers like Buy.com. They sell their own stock (which often has free shipping) first. If that runs out and one of the outside eTailers selling through them has the same item available, they'll change the listing to show that eTailer as the seller.
