I just purchased the parts below for a new computer build.

CPU: AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz
MB : GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX
MEMORY: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB)3
Hard Drive: Corsair Force Series GS CSSD-F128GBGS-BK

One of the main reasons why I didn’t buy the 9370 or the 9590 was the 225w power requirement and at the time the 9590 was $600. Now they’re offering these 2 chips with a water cooler arrrg and a reduced price on the 9590! I also read that these will be the last FX chips AMD will be putting out so I was thinking it would be cool to buy one of the last ones offered.

I was just wondering if it would be worth buying one and using the 8350 for a refresh of my old computer.

Side note: Does anybody know when or if AMD will move to 22nm or lower?

Thanks!

Just buy a watercooling kit and OC your FX8350 to FX9370 frequency.

As for the 22nm, you will have to wait a couple of years (2015 or later).

If your mb is pcb rev 4, per the Gigabyte website it does support the 9370. As far as using the 8350 for a "refresh" of your old computer, does your "old" computer mb even support the 8350? The water cooler is made, I believe, by Asetek and is worth @$60-70 at most. The stock clock of the 8350 is 4 ghz with turbo boost to 4.2Ghz while the 9370 is stock clocked at 4.4 Ghz with a turbo boost to 4.7 Ghz.

You have to shell out $289 for the 9370. Buy a high end water cooler for @$75-90 and overclock the 8350. I've been running my 8350 at 4.6Ghz for months on an Asus Sabertooth FX rev 1 mb with a Corsair H100 water cooler.

I agree with above statements. Just buy a decent water cooler and OC your 8350. I have ran my 8350 @5GHz on custom water. You should get 4.5-4.7GHz easily

Looks like I'll overclock the 8350 and save the money.

Bummer about the AMD roadmap but this computer should easily last me a few years. The last AMD system I put together I'm still currently using AMD Phenom 9850B Quad-Core. Just put in a HD 6970 card and an SSD and I really dont need to build this new system but I wanted to after I showed my 12yr old son how to build his new system AMD A8.

Thanks for the responses!
