Should I get SP3?

I bought some on sale parts from a store and built this........ AMD 64 X2 Black Edition, 500 W PSU, 2 Gigs Corsair XMS 6400, EVGA GeForce 9800 GT 512MB, 500GB Western Digital HDD, DVD and even a floppy drive on an Asus M2N-SLI (Nforce 560 chipset). I have XP pro SP2. Should I upgrade to SP3? I have heard of horror stories about SP3 on AMD machines. I don't want to make a decision I will regret later. Does anyone have any experience with SP3 on an AMd system? any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks.
 
Make an image of the OS partition if you can before you do it. I've not done it on an AMD system yet but all the ones I have done have gone fine.
