I need an alarm, and I want remote start to go with it. Should I get one of those pager ones that are all over ebay?

If you think you can handle installing one of them. Remember if your car has a chip in the key you will need to figure a way to dissable that feature. Without doing that car wont start either.

But if you can then hella yes. Summer you can cool your car off before you get in it and winter you can have it hot and defrosting your windows before you go.

I dont know if I would be installing it myself, what's involved in doing it? Car has no chip but does have a passive alarm. Would that affect anything?

Well you'd be surprised what kind of safe guards cars can have that would make this harder than you'd think to work.

I have a '99 chevy Tahoe and had a Viper alarm installed with the remote start and they had all sorts of issues getting it to bypass the safety features of my Tahoe.

Still makes me nervous. They probably have crackers for those things. Or it could entice people to break in. Also the climate there is not too extreme unless your car is in the sun alot.

You can't once it revs past a certain point it just shuts off. I don't know what MC meant by that.

People might think you left the car running while you went to get something. They might not know you have the starter thing so they might try to steal it. Plus since the car was running, they would know someone was coming back to it soon, so they could just wait for you.

Once you put the key in and turn it to run it shuts off.

As far as doing it yourself, if you have no clue what your doing then NO! You cross one wire and you can wipe out the computer to your car and then your talking mega money. Spend the extra and have it proffesionaly installed. If they mess up the computer or your car they have to fix it.
