Thanks for all the replies guys. I just might take it actually. I mean i need to get the klipsch 5.1s, 36 inch hdtv, etc.

The only trouble i can see, apart form the personal information, is my computer is in my dining room. Which means all adult-related programming must be done after parents go to sleep. Also there is the prospect of explaining the increased income. Argh...the social implications of anyone finding out would be sooo bad.

Now they treat women like sex objects and strictly that. I ask them why and their only answer is "all women are pigs."

This may not happen to you but watchout.

That's not a problem with the job. That's a problem with your friends being f@cked up in the head. No offense.
I'm sure no one pried their eyes open and made them watch the pr0n shoots. Right?

No offense taken, since they aren't my good friends. They do call me to go to a strip club or get hookers all the time. I think they're getting the hint I'm not interested.

No, they didn't have to watch what's going on. Their reasons:
Most of the girls that came in had boyfriends, fiancees and even husbands. There was an untold amount that would express secrecy about not having the men find out. Then they would come and get it from 5-8 men in one day then go home smiling to their hubbies. That is gross. The reasons some of them did it? So they could buy expensive purses shoes, clothes. What they would tell their husbands is that it's a knockoff and got it for 5 bucks instead of telling the truth.
Those are only a few of many examples I was told. There's many more.

What those guys say to me kinda makes sense to me after awhile, but I don't want to make that life choice.

I would NOT do it for this reason alone. If I were a mid-20 and older single guy (why would you want to be) living away from family and wife/gf's ... then I'd jump at the chance... but this is a terrible thing to be caught doing, even if it is just the framework you're going to do. My decision would not be based on what I get out of it (it's great, can't deny that), but other's perception of it if they find out. Being that you're still living at home, this opportunity is coming at the wrong time. The necessity to disclose personal information to them seals the deal for me... I personally wouldn't. It WILL tie you in and you'll be looking over your shoulders (for parents/gf) for a long long time to come. Again, if porn were a little less frowned upon, I'd jump at any freelance opportunity.

You live and learn, and I've learned many things that sounded too good to be true. And I'm only 24 - and a web developer. It may work out for you, but the consequences outweigh the benefits at this point in your life. My 2 cents.

I don't think it's really that he's "ashamed" of it, he just wouldn't want his parents/enemies (notice how friends is left out because they'd just be "oh l33t! gimme a pwd!") blowing it way out of proportion and somehow making him into some perverted pr0n lover.

You know how the whole "blowing out of proportion" thing goes (Example - Paranoia regarding Columbine):
- Two kids shoot up school
- If two kids can do it, then they all can
- If they all can, they all will
- Lockdowns of all kids, video games, guns, etc
- Paranoia ensues

And for "increased income" just say you've been doing freelance web design. If they press the subject, just say that you're under an NDA and can't say anything or you'd have to kill them. :D

Well the fact that you live with your parents and could get "caught" changes things a bit.

...which means you should just give me the job. I need it more anyway. :D

...so true...I think i should really move out first before I attempt to do this. Because I might be kicked out if the conservative asian parents find out about it anyways....now if Dell didn't have all those hot deals all the time I wouldn't be in this situation. :)...

LMAO. What's your bed time dude?;) jk man.

That's a lot of jack to pass up. I'd do it, especially since it sounds like you have some specific needs (hdtv hehe) do enough to get the kaysh for the cool sh1t you want, then bail. I wouldn't even put it on a resume, like edit alluded too. On a side note...maybe you should use some of the flow to buy another computer first, thus avoiding the parental problem. Just a thought.

Sh!t, I'd finance a laptop and put in a wireless router. 802.11b to the rescue. You can do your programming from the saftey of your own room.

Sounds like your moral airbag just deployed.

If you believe your job choice would alienate you from your parents or friends, then you are showing that you care about projecting a clean image. You could try to fool them into seeing that clean image by hiding the facts about your part-time job, but that can only last so long, and the consequences with your family and friends may be very costly.

What, the obvious? Did it for their next hit? Mind you, again keeping their habit secret.

One day a husband followed his wife one day (guess he became suspicious) barges in threatens to kill everyone and drags his wife out of there. From the "rumour" mill, she had a young daughter, a million dollar house and was doing this for her dopey BUM boyfriend since he had no money. Her husband I guess watched his money so she couldn't milk him.
It's things like this that make me have lower expectations, but I have my reality where I like to believe there are good people out there. I guess dealing with the pron industry you will no be dealing with the most savory people so it is to be expected.

What my initial point is about is that it may change you as a person. From an upstanding moral person to a dirtbag.
So don't do it freebee. Money isn't as important as your pride, morality or whatever else you may lose.

I don't believe someone looses their morality because of their work. I believe it just changes their perspective and perception. I guess I couldn't work at a place like that and watch the examples you gave and not have a jaded opinion of women in general. I already have intimacy issues, but I really believe that things will work themselves out over time. Just listening about women sleeping around their husband's backs just so they could buy a stupid handbag makes me sick. If I had to watch this happen in person I'd be seriously messed up.

Wow, that's alot of power to give a little web coding in his own house. Maybe your pride are a little weaker than most peoples though.

That's a strong statement from your earlier sentiment:

No, your pride and morality IS weaker than most peoples though. You want to be part of the disgusting world known as porn? Than do it. If you don't there's 1000's if not millions of dirtbags to take your place. You choose to be that dirtbag, and you have to live with it.

By your fscked in the head logic, the poor bastard that mopped the floors at Enron is just as accountable and responsible for cooking the books as the CEO's in charge of the company.

That's the analogy you use, but I have fscked in the head logic?

In your words - If he builds the website for a porn company, he's a dirty, lowlife, moraless lowlife scumbag. All he's doing is coding some webpages to put coin in his pocket. He's not telling women to take it in the ass, he's not taking the pictures of people having sex, he's not encouraging any sort of "unchristian like" behavior, he's not putting a gun to somebody's head to make them pay the fees to access a site, yet to you he's still a low life piece of crap.
