Results are pretty typical for almost all PSUs: terrible at low power levels, reach max efficiency at about 50-60%, then a gradual decline at increasing power levels. It's a conscientious decision by the designers to get as large and broad high efficiency band as possible.

I know that, you know that, most the people on these forums know that. Sure there are exceptions I mean look at the line on the graph for the neopower 480 yes it tends to increase in efficiency as you increase the load but it also peaks at around 76-77% efficient which is pretty appalling.

Do you have some benches for your FX-6100 ?

I just pulled a 6100 and substituted a 960T today - only did a couple of benches on mine.

The FX was running at 4200MHz the 960T (unlocked to six cores) is at 3600MHz.

Cinebench on the FX was 5.05 - it is 6.54 on the 960T
7Zip was around 16500 on the FX - it is 18497 on the 960T
3D mark is the same due to my GTS450

This is on an Asus 990FX Sabertooth with 8 GB of GSKILL 1600 memory

Anything in particular you want to see? I am open to running anything CPU bound. I can do graphics bound but I might be a little limited here with my HD6750.

Nothing in particular comes to mind.

A wide variety of apps/benchs would be good.

 Wow,what the hell is wrong with bulldozer?I would expect the 6100 to at least as fast as a quad, not slower.

I get 5.38 with my 2500k @ 3.4ghz for comparison which is beaten by the 1100t.

The 960T was unlocked to a six core. Even so - I was surprised at the results, particularly the 7zip, which I though was supposed to be a BD strength.

Piledriver would have to be something of a miracle unless the bulldozer chips are built cheaper then the phenom 2's and sold a dime a dozen,i don't see how such a product could be sold, its almost criminal.

SLK: How is that ASRock 970 mb holding up to that FX 6100?

Great! Almost killed it Saturday night. Got it working again with v1.6 Bios. I think 4.8ghz is either too much for the CPU or Mobo. Now I am keeping it at 4ghz and I might go to 4.2ghz. Its very stable now.

Do you know what is up with the onboard sound and the loud screech at shutdown?

FWIW my rig does that too and has been for over a year. I know, other than AMD, my setup doesn't have much in common with yours but thought I'd share. It's annoying but hasn't hurt anything yet.

I might just put a cheap sound card in it and call it a day if it bothers me that much. Thanks for the info, I wasn't too bothered by it anyways :)
