Should I get a touch screen?

Should Windows 8 always be used with touch-screen?

  • Maybe. The touch-screen is fun, but not necessary.

I'm going to be buying a HP Pavilion desktop, running Windows 8. I really don't know whether or not to buy a touch-screen monitor, or just a normal one. I'm not interested in a touch-screen, because of the novelty, but I've heard that some necessary things are difficult with a mouse.

Voted no. I've used stock Windows 8 on my no-touch, dual-monitor desktop at home with no issues at all. Start, Charms, etc. work just as well with M+KB as with touch. Some people don't like some of the UI changes and swear by one of the many Start Screen replacements, which you can find here.

Touch is fantastic on my laptop, though. In retrospect, I almost feel like I should have ponied up a bit more for a detachable screen tablet or a convertible but I was/am holding out for the next generation Windows 8 / RT tablets.

I can't stand fingerprints on my screen! Maybe with a stylus.

There is No right or wrong in such issue (or asking other people waht to do), it is a personal preference.

Depending in the particular way that you use your computer, if you have use for touch get it.
